On 14 August 2026, a ProShield Security client in the Doornpoort area activated her panic alarm after managing to free herself following a traumatic house robbery.
The victim had been tied up and held inside her home for approximately four to five hours before she was able to free herself and raise the alarm.
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE
ProShield reaction units immediately responded to the panic activation and found the victim, who was understandably still in a state of shock.
It was established that the suspects had stolen numerous items from the residence, including:
• Two television sets
• A PlayStation
• A laptop
• A cellular phone
• Various other household and personal items
ProShield Tactical Units were immediately deployed to assist reaction officers and SAPS members on scene.
CRITICAL INFORMATION RECEIVED
Shortly afterwards, information was received from Echo 1 Security regarding a white Toyota Hilux suspected of being involved in house robberies. The vehicle had reportedly been seen operating in the area at approximately the same time as the robbery at the ProShield client's residence.
Echo 1 Security had further developed information regarding the possible location of the vehicle, a suspect, and potentially stolen property.
Acting on this intelligence, a joint task team was assembled consisting of Echo-1 and ProShield tactical members as well as SAPS colleagues.
FIRST RAID
The task team moved to the identified location and conducted an operation on the property.
A suspect was located and suspected stolen property was found in his possession.
Although the property recovered at this location was subsequently found not to belong to the victim, the investigation continued.
Information obtained during the operation led the task team to the suspect's alleged accomplices and additional locations where further suspected stolen property could potentially be recovered.
SECOND LOCATION
The joint team immediately proceeded to a second location in the Nellmaphius area.
Upon arrival, two additional suspects were identified and searched.
Stolen property was discovered in their possession.
Further investigation and questioning of the suspects then led officers to a third location.
THIRD RAID & RECOVERY
The task team immediately moved on the third premises.
During the operation, the two outstanding television sets stolen from the victim's residence were successfully recovered.
The operation ultimately resulted in three foreign nationals being detained, the suspected vehicle being secured, and stolen property being recovered.
The suspects and vehicle were taken to Silverton SAPS, while the recovered property was booked in for the necessary investigation and processing.
JOINT OPERATION
This successful operation demonstrates what can be achieved when private security companies and the South African Police Service share intelligence, coordinate resources and act decisively.
From the initial panic activation to the development of intelligence, multiple locations being identified, suspects being traced and stolen property being recovered, this was a true collaborative effort.
WELL DONE TO EVERY MEMBER INVOLVED IN THIS OPERATION
