There is a new kid/tyre on the block and it is Oxygen tyres. They have released the competition model which is a 140/80-18 gummy tyre which will compete with the likes of Dunlop, Metzler, Mitas and Michelin. You will see it is basically a carbon copy of the Dunlop EN91. The tyre was released earlier this year and has been issued to various riders for feedback. I got mine in April before a weekend ride in Clarens and I have just used another one for the Impi Hard Enduro. I can confidently confirm that this tyre performs just as well or better as any other branded gummy out there. My first tyre I got around 20 hours and I still had some tread left, but as avid Enduro rider I like to start a major event with fresh rubber. Now as you know 20 hours is not a guarantee as each riders throttle and clutch control will determine the lifetime that he/she will get from this tyre. Obviously in dry terrain this tyre will perform well but what might give it the edge is it's grip in wet terrain. Pricing is extremely competitive, so get hold of your local dealer to be surprised. Furthermore Oxygen also has a selection of front and rear tyres and mousses to go with them. Fitting oxygen tyres might just give you the impression that affordability has returned to the Enduro scene.
