THE FINAL REVEAL. 👑

When Richard Petty "The King” entrusted The Legendary Garage with restoring Mrs. Lynda Petty’s beloved Chrysler 300 SRT8, we knew this project carried a meaning far beyond the car itself.

After nearly 20 years of use—and several years parked due to a failed steering rack—our team carefully brought the SRT8 back to life. We repaired the mechanical issues, upgraded the brakes, refurbished the A/C system, addressed the leaks, and replaced the faulty steering components to make it dependable once again.

The car was then completely disassembled as our body shop repaired every imperfection before laying down a deep black metallic finish that is truly as smooth as glass.

Custom ghosted graphics were incorporated throughout the paint as a tasteful tribute to Richard and Lynda Petty. Many of the subtle details hold a special meaning to The King, making this build completely one of a kind.

Once our work was complete, we trusted PETTY SHINE with the window tint and the restoration of the interior—bringing it back to the level of royalty it deserves.

We are incredibly honored and proud to have been chosen for such a meaningful project for one of America’s greatest motorsports icons.

Have you ever fought your steering wheel in every parking lot?

When this 1935 Chevrolet Master rolled into the shop, it was stuck with a heavy manual rack that made it nearly impossible to maneuver at low speeds. The owner actually bumped into a few things because the steering was just too much to handle.

The challenge? A packed engine bay with zero room for a traditional power steering pump.

Our solution: Modern hybridization.

We integrated an electric power steering system, similar to what you’d find in a Toyota Prius, and tucked the pump out of sight under the fender. A specialized servo reads the steering column input to provide instant pressure to the new rack.

The result is a classic street rod you can now steer with a single finger. We’re bringing new-age drivability to vintage steel.

Struggling with a mechanical hurdle on your build? DM us at Legendary Garage, and we'll find a modern fix for your classic.

Forget "stacking dimes," we’re talking precision thinner than a pencil line.

We’re elevating this 1963 Chevy II Nova with a full custom 304 stainless steel exhaust system. While traditional mild steel gets the job done, a high-end build demands a superior finish. Stainless steel requires absolute precision in fitment, taking more time in the fab shop to ensure every transition is flawless.

To keep the system functional and leak-free, we’re utilizing V-band clamps. These allow for easy removal and repeated use without compromising the seal, making maintenance a breeze. At The Legendary Garage, we don't just build exhaust systems; we create functional works of art that match the caliber of your car.

Does your exhaust match the quality of your build? Contact us to schedule your custom stainless fabrication.

What you see on the surface rarely tells the whole story. We just pulled the driver’s door off our Plymouth Belvedere project, and those "few bubbles" in the paint hid a completely rusted-out inner structure.

After uncovering widespread rust and questionable past body work on the quarter panels, we’ve shifted gears. Instead of small patches, we’re committing to full quarter panels to ensure this build is done right from the inside out. It’s exactly why "off-the-cuff" estimates don't work for vintage steel; you never truly know the scope until you start digging.

Next stop: Petty Blue paint to honor this Mopar’s iconic racing roots.

Are you team "patch it" or team "replace the whole panel"? Let us know your restoration philosophy in the comments!

When your build packs over 600 horsepower, "good enough" is a recipe for disaster.

We’re back in the fab shop with the '67 Camaro, and we’ve been busy undoing some questionable decisions from a previous shop. To make room for the exhaust, about 70% of the strength had been cut out of these aftermarket bolt-in frame connectors, compromising the frame's structural integrity.

Our solution?

We cut out the compromised sections and fabricated custom floorboard pockets. This engineering fix allows the frame connectors to sit flush with the bottom of the car, keeping the exhaust tucked tight without sacrificing an ounce of strength. It’s the perfect balance of high-end aesthetics and raw functional performance.

Quality is found in the details others might try to hide.

What’s the most questionable "fix" you’ve ever found on a project car? Let’s hear your horror stories in the comments.
