🏁 2026 SEMI LATE MODEL CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT 🏁
The wait is over. . Here is it! Not one but TWO champions!
With our Semi Late Model points ending in an exact tie between Nathan Smith and Chris Hackett, we took some time to determine the fairest way to handle the championship.
After reviewing our current rules, we realized they do not clearly establish a tie-breaking procedure for this situation—whether that should be based on 2nd-place finishes, 3rd-place finishes, 4th-place finishes, Top 5s, or another factor.
We understand that different tracks handle points ties differently. Some may go by wins, then 2nd-place finishes, 3rd-place finishes, and so on, while others may use a completely different tie-breaking system. However, because our rules did not clearly state how a championship tie would be decided before the season began, we don't believe it would be fair to choose a tie-breaking method after the fact.
Due to those circumstances, we believe the fairest decision is to rule the championship as a tie and recognize both Nathan Smith and Chris Hackett as our 2026 Semi Late Model Points Champions!
This isn't a decision we made lightly, and we understand there may be different opinions on how a tie should be handled. Our goal is simply to be as fair as possible to both drivers based on the rules that were in place throughout the season.
Going forward, we will revise and clarify our rulebook to include a specific championship tie-breaking procedure so there is no uncertainty should this situation happen again.
Congratulations to Nathan and Chris on an incredible season and on earning the title of 2026 Semi Late Model Points Champions! 🏁
