Warrant of Fitness

WoF & Insurance

Insurance Council NZ has confirmed to MTA that you are still insured if you have an accident and do not have a current Warrant of Fitness due to the current Covid Alert Level (4 and 3), so long as you are not aware of any safety issues with your vehicle that will make the vehicle unsafe to drive and likely prevent you from getting a WoF.

As always MTA recommends not operating vehicles without a current WoF.

Vogel Motors will be opening as soon as the Level 4 changes to Level 3 and will work through the backlog as quickly as we can.

The most common failure our customers experienced during the last lockdown was a flat battery.

We recommend starting your car at least once a week, in a ventilated space, and letting it run until the temperature guage is up to normal. This will help keep the battery in a charged state.

Some helpful infomation taken from NZTA website.

If your vehicle is not being used for an essential service, you cannot obtain a WoF/CoF during Alert Level 4.

If you must use your vehicle for an essential trip (such as groceries or medical supplies) and your WoF/CoF has expired, police discretion may be applied. This information will be updated as required. Please follow the Government guidelines related to travel under Alert Level 4.

It is still a requirement that vehicles must be safe to operate on a public road. At a minimum, vehicle owners need to self-inspect their vehicles (tyres, windscreen, wipers, mirrors, indicators, and lights) to assess their vehicle’s safety.

Dear Valued Customers. Yesterday afternoon the Prime Minister announced that alert level 4 will be extended till Friday 27th. Not the news we wanted to hear but probably no surprise.

We will remain closed during Level 4 and keep you updated as we learn more.
