My first trip to Monterey car week, I now understand what all the fuss is about. Let’s just say, I am ready to book for next year.

We had a successful week, securing new cars in the auctions, meeting new US clients for the first time, and generally soaking up the atmosphere and what the week’s events had to offer. The standard of cars on the lawn, inspires us to have a successful entry in the coming years. Which I suspect, is very soon!
The energy and enthusiasm within the US market is evident, and something tells me, the industry is only becoming stronger with a younger generation playing a part, which is only a good thing.

The ROE vs SASSO golf day was a success to close the week out! We only lost two balls between us. I’m still waiting for the ‘scores on the doors’ to be revealed! Sasso Automotive

ROE ATTENDING MONTEREY CAR WEEK 2026.

75th Anniversary Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance.

Paul will be flying to California from the 11th to the 17th of August for Monterey Car Week. Paul will be based in Monterey and will attend auctions, motorsport events, and, of course, the leading concours.

Just some of the key events Paul will be attending are 'Astons on the Avenue' in Carmel-by-the-Sea (12/08) and the Pebble Beach Tour d' Elegance (13/08). Auctions include Bonhams at Laguna Seca Raceway, RM Sotheby's, and Gooding Christie's.

Yorkshire Elegance 2026.

Richards of England attended the annual Yorkshire Elegance concours (15th-16th July), hosted by The Fast Lane Club, located within the impressive grounds of Grantley Hall.

Our client's 1964 Aston Martin DB5 in the iconic 'Goodwood Green' livery was awarded First in Class in the Classic Car category for cars built between 1945 and 1970.

This is the second year running one of our restored Aston Martin DB5 cars has been awarded the first prize in its category at the event.

It was pleasing to see the DB5 restoration's craftsmanship and detail recognised by the judges once again.

SOLD BEFORE REACHING THE MARKET.

1958 Aston Martin DB MKIII DHC.

-Original chassis and engine;
-Coachwork by Tickford;
-Desirable overdrive transmission;
-Beautifully patinated interior.

Aston Martin DB MKIII DHC 'AM300/3/1609' was first registered in 1958 and supplied new to Guy Salmon Automobiles Ltd, Surrey, and subsequently sold to its first custodian, Mr Peter Cadbury of Ascot, Berkshire.

'1609' left the factory fully equipped with the DBA-type engine number '1229' and transmission overdrive, which are both retained today.

There is evidence of race history according to the Aston Martin Owners Club Register 1984, detailing '1609' with the registration '740 HKR' in participation at Silverstone in 1981, winning 2nd place, 1982, winning 4th place and again in 1982 at Loton Park (Shrewsbury), winning 4th place and owned by C. Lee.

The MKIII is heading to a wonderful new home, where it will join an impressive collection of Aston Martin cars.

We are delighted to have found a new home for our latest 1964 Aston Martin DB5 in record time. Quality has always led the market, and today's sale is another reminder that cars continue to command market-leading prices.

This DB5 is a superb example of a ROE restoration that keeps originality at its heart.
Highlights include:

The Personal Touch.

At Richards of England, we create bespoke photographic albums that document every stage of an Aston Martin's full restoration.

Each album comprises 50 pages of photographs captured throughout the car's meticulous restoration journey. Together, they offer behind-the-scenes insight into the stages, processes, and craftsmanship, showing the care that goes into every vehicle.

Bound in hide from the Aston Martin's own interior and crafted using archival fine art paper, each album is designed to age with character. Over time, it will develop a patina of its own, becoming as historically significant as the vehicle it celebrated.

For Sale:

1964 Aston Martin DB5.

Aston Martin DB5 'DB5/1674/R' was first supplied new by Plough Motors to Mr Frank J Huck of Gloucestershire on the 22nd of July 1964. Its build sheet confirms a specification of triple S.U carburettor and Sierra Blue livery with Fawn hide.

The original wet-ink sales invoice from 1964, confirming the DB5's order and specification, has been retained by the car, as well as the original part-exchange document; both are in outstanding condition given their age.

The DB5 remained in the Huck family for over 42 years before being sold by his grandson in 2022 at the annual Bonhams auction at Goodwood Revival. The current custodian of the DB5 commissioned marque specialists Richards of England to undertake a meticulous body-off restoration, concluding in the Summer of 2025.

Before the restoration, the car was painted in 'Pillar Box Red', the only additional coats of paint applied during almost 60 years. During the disassembly, the discovery of the original paint of 'Sierra Blue' was uncovered, referenced and matched to obtain the correct shade for the repainting process. Throughout the restoration, many original details were uncovered, such as the underside cloth of the rear seat, bearing '1674' in chalk, the near-perfect door card timber's pencilled '1674', all of which have been carefully retained during the restoration. Preservation of the original ACE number plates, BDF 725B, remain as they were when the DB5 left the factory in the Summer of 1964.

The car became a star of the 2025 Yorkshire Elegance concours, winning the title of the Aston Martin DB Class. The event served as the official unveiling of the DB5 to the client, being the first time he had seen the car since its completion. Adding to the accolade list for '1674' was the prestigious invitation to display the DB5 at the annual Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace, 2025.
