Unfortunately, this is a post I never thought I’d have to write.
For now, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close Davidson’s Detailing.
The last couple of months have been something I could never have prepared myself for. Due to decisions made by Mark in his personal life, he is no longer here to be part of the business.
I want to make one thing very clear — the circumstances surrounding Mark have absolutely nothing to do with me or Davidson’s Detailing. They were his decisions, his actions and ultimately his consequences.
Unfortunately, I’ve had to learn that not everybody sees it that way.
I’ve tried my absolute hardest to keep the business going. I stepped up and carried on when everything changed overnight, taking on responsibilities I never expected to be dealing with at my age. I genuinely wanted to prove that Davidson’s Detailing could continue and that what had been built didn’t have to disappear because of somebody else’s decisions.
But sometimes determination alone isn’t enough.
There comes a point where you have to look at the situation realistically, and right now continuing the business simply isn’t sustainable for me.
What makes this especially difficult is that the business itself did nothing wrong. We built up some brilliant customers, worked on some incredible vehicles and turned something that started small into a proper unit in Elgin that I was proud to work from.
To every person who trusted us with their vehicle, recommended us, shared a post, left a review, came back for maintenance or simply supported the business — thank you. It genuinely meant more than you probably realise.
I’m disappointed that circumstances outside of my control have brought things to this point, but I’m also proud that I tried to keep it going rather than simply walking away when everything changed.
And I want to stress one thing:
This does not necessarily mean forever.
I love detailing, I’ve learned a huge amount, and I’m not ruling out coming back in the future when the circumstances are right and I’m in a position to give it everything it deserves.
For now, though, it’s time to close this chapter.
Thank you to everyone who supported Davidson’s Detailing.
