⚠️ Honda Civic 2017 ⚠️
This vehicle arrived with a bit of an issue. Previous repairs had proved unsuccessful and the customer was considering selling the vehicle at a loss.
All 17 warning lights on the vehicle dashboard. No electronic parking brake and no ADAS functions.
A quick code scan gave a little insight to where the problem lay.
Open/short circuit fault codes for both rear ABS sensors (2 new harnesses had been fitted).
Electronic park brake stuck in maintenance mode.
Steering angle sensor calibration missing.
And various other faults which stemmed from an ABS issue.
On the first visual inspection. The OSR ABS harness (on vehicle) looked ok. A closer inspection revealed a tiny spot of corrosion on the blue wire. Unfortunately the corrosion was exactly the same colour as the wire, making this very easy to overlook and a quick wiggle test confirmed a break in the wire. As the break was close to the plug head, a new pin and repair wire was fitted and soldered in place.
This left an open circuit on the NSR ABS line.
We confirmed there was continuity from the ABS sensor to the back of the main ABS ECU plug, however the plug head had 2 pins which were open, making no contact with the ABS ECU when plugged in.
We replaced both wires with new pins and soldered into place.
This enabled us to get the park brake back out of maintenance mode and we followed by calibrating the steering angle sensor and all warning lights and fault codes were now gone.
