£100 a ticket / 30 tickets !

We bought this on a bit of a whim. I’ve always loved these but never owned one so when I was offered one it was a no brainer.

Around 10 months MOT
Upgraded brakes, upgraded disks and pads to performance ones
Upgraded high temp brake fluid
Upgraded Intercooler
Upgraded SC pulley 20%
Upgraded crank pulley 2%
Upgraded 380cc Bosch injectors
Poly bushed etc

I’d always wanted to take one of these on a track, Despite having no free time!

Track wise- next this needs upgraded suspension, interior stripping out and a better exhaust.

We logged IAT’s on the dyno with the upgraded top mount Intercooler and it made a surprising difference, but I would be interested in seeing the results of a front mount conversion kit…..

Anyway let’s make somebody’s day by winning an awesome track car for £100!!

First stages of our R53 Cooper S track car.

We still have the CTT Megane, but felt our track car needed to be supercharged to match our one of a kind ‘twin charged’ Defender and supercharged Range Rover.

First step was to do some logging stock, then start to upgrade parts with dyno logging between to see how each part affected the performance.

Today’s research showed us that decat did not really add any power, but an upgraded Intercooler dropped IAT’s significantly (far more beneficial on the track and when the weather warms up)

Next step is to fit the 20% supercharger pulley and 2% crank pulley to gain a bit more boost followed by a new 4 2 1 manifold and upgraded induction kit.

We was surprised to see stock this 163ps Cooper S made over stock figures at around 174-179bhp.

Input is more than welcome for recommendations as tyres and brakes next :)

Bad tune - 262bhp & 641nm 🤬
CTT fixed tune - 311bhp & 738nm 💪

Gains over the previous tuning circa 50bhp 100nm

Previously tuned to an absolutely horrendous standard with some 20% fuel injector duration timing added !

We have had the pleasure of working on this stunning classic Mini in the most stunning colour option!

This has been a long project and it’s not all been plain sailing and smiles! But projects never are 🤷‍♂️

These are supposedly 65 BHP, but when this came in we couldn’t even get a single run out of it. The base map the ECU had was absolutely horrendous and had dangerous amounts of timing request and was so rich it would foul plugs up unless the rev’s were lifted.

We had issues with:

Interference caused by the ignition system.

The supercharger pulley had no tension so would slip as soon as we tried to make boost.

The crank position sensor was too close to the flywheel and as a result it got a little ‘love nibble’

The MAP sensor was not correct

The 390cc injectors maxed out too early

And finally the spark plugs needed upgrading.

Then the design of the inlet manifold and supercharger favours 2 cylinders, so to overcome 2 cylinders running lean we have had to run the other two richer than we’d like 🙄

But overall a cracking DIY build and a brilliant little car.

For the geeks amongst you, the build is as follows:

1275cc a series engine
Maniflow exhaust
Maniflow intake manifold
Stage 3 intake and exhaust valves with high lift rockers
276 Kent camshaft
Stock bottom end
Eaton M45 supercharger
Pico 480cc injectors
2.5 bar fuel pressure regulator
Updated fuel pump
4 bar map sensor
Emerald k6 ECU.

Final results 120bhp 131nm and weighs 47KG 😉

Not massive granted, but this will feel like a racing car compared to before and this is on an old ECU where we do not have as much adjustment as a modern one.

We get a lot of customers asking about at what mileage should tuning be avoided? Our answer is it’s not mileage that matters. It is maintenance 🔧
