Making sure your vehicle is maintained before hitting the highway can prevent major headaches later.
The Essential Summer Road Trip Checklist
☑ Check your Fluids - be sure your engine oil, coolant and windshield washer fluid are all topped up.
☑ Rubber & Hoses - check belts and hoses. Any cracks, fraying, or missing chunks are a good indication that you should get them looked at.
☑ Tires and Brakes - with the summer heat, your tires will expand. Be sure that your tires have good tread and do a pressure check so you avoid a dangerous blowout. For your brakes, listen for any squeaking or grinding, or feel if your steering wheel vibrates upon braking. If any of these are happening, have them checked.
☑ Be Prepared - Pack an emergency kit containing jumper cables, a flashlight, a basic tool set, a tire pressure gauge, and plenty of extra drinking water. If you get stranded in the summer heat, hydration is your number one priority.
