WHAT A WEEKEND AT VAAL RIVER RATS!

This past weekend, Leisure Marine headed out to Vaal River Rats South Africa, and what an incredible weekend it was!

While we were there, we took the opportunity to do some promotional work for Suzuki Marine South Africa, and we had a little mission in mind!

We wanted to hear directly from the people who know these motors best... THE OWNERS!

We caught up with a number of guys running Suzuki outboards on their boats and asked them about their experience, how their motors have been treating them, and whether they're happy with their Suzukis.

And the feedback? ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!

Every single owner we chatted to was absolutely over the moon with their motor! But there was ONE thing that stood out above everything else...

FUEL CONSUMPTION!

Hands down, every owner we spoke to mentioned just how impressed they were with their Suzuki's fuel consumption! It was the one thing that kept coming up in every conversation, and it was fantastic hearing such positive feedback straight from the people using these motors out on the water.

Another thing that really stood out to us was the sheer number of Suzuki outboards on the Vaal River!

It was absolutely incredible seeing so many boats powered by Suzuki, and even better hearing just how happy their owners are!

The all-new 2026 Navis 230 is 23 feet of South African build with seating for twelve, a 350HP Suzuki on the back, and every extra already fitted. It's fully composite, fully loaded and water-ready.

Full composite construction means there's no wood anywhere in the boat. That means no rot, no soft transom in five years, and no nasty surprise when you go to sell it.

The Suzuki DF350A is the flagship of the Suzuki four-stroke range, and it runs two contra-rotating propellers on a single leg. That gives the 230 grip that a single prop can't match. The hole shot is instant, the boat tracks dead straight with no steering torque, and reverse thrust is strong enough to properly stop a loaded 23-footer at the jetty. Drive-by-wire throttle and shift keeps everything smooth and precise, especially around a busy slipway.

Why is this Navis Apex R429,000 when the Apex starts at R397,000? Here’s the breakdown

We get this question a lot, so let’s make it simple.

R397,000 gets you a brand new 2026 Navis Apex with a 115HP Suzuki four-stroke and a new trailer. Boat, motor and trailer, ready to launch. That’s the starting point.

R417,000 if you upgrade to the 140HP Suzuki. It’s R20,000 extra for more punch out of the hole and more power when the boat is loaded with family and gear.

R429,000 gets you the 140HP Suzuki drive-by-wire, and that’s the boat you see here.

So what is drive-by-wire?
Basically, it’s an electric throttle. A normal motor uses mechanical cables between the throttle lever and the engine. Drive-by-wire swaps those for electronic signals.

That means:
• Smoother, lighter throttle and shift
• More precise control at low revs, which really helps around a busy slipway or when docking
• The same technology Suzuki uses on its big V6 flagship motors

This black Apex is on our floor right now. It’s a brand new hull with a brand new trailer, and the 140HP drive-by-wire Suzuki is a demo motor with only 5 hours on it. It’s the top motor option, already fitted and ready to go.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY INSANE WEEKEND AT THE VAAL RIVER BASS CLASSIC!

What a weekend! The 2026 Vaal River Bass Classic was nothing short of incredible, from the fishing and the atmosphere to the unbelievable prizes up for grabs!

This past weekend, Leisure Marine and Boat Boutique had the privilege of representing Suzuki Marine South Africa, one of the proud sponsors of this fantastic event!

And Suzuki certainly didn't arrive empty-handed!

THREE brand-new Suzuki 2.5HP Fourstroke outboards were given away, each valued at R17,400, bringing the total giveaway value to R52,200!

But let's talk about that FIRST-PLACE PRIZE!
