⚙️ When a Small Failure Turns Into a Big Repair
This engine came into the shop with a failed VVT (Variable Valve Timing) actuator.
Take a close look at the circled area. 👀 The VVT actuator has physically broken, which can affect the engine's ability to properly control camshaft timing.
The VVT system constantly adjusts valve timing while the engine is running to help provide the right balance of power, fuel economy, and smooth operation. When an actuator starts to fail, you may notice:
🔧 Check Engine Light
🔧 Rattling or knocking noises, especially at startup
🔧 Rough running or poor performance
🔧 Camshaft timing-related trouble codes
In this case, getting to the failed component requires significant disassembly of the engine's timing system—which is why diagnosing the problem correctly before replacing parts is so important.
At Bachman Auto Service & Repair, we believe in showing you what we find. Photos and videos like these are included in our Digital Vehicle Inspections so you can actually see the problem and understand the repair.
