JOB OPENING - AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN - BMW EXPERIENCE PREFERRED.

Are you a BMW technician who is looking for a job you can look forward to? Here at Dillon Auto Repair, we strive to provide an atmosphere that is welcoming not only for our customers, but our employees as well. We are a small shop that specializes in BMW, we also perform repairs on other types of vehicles. We take pride in providing excellent customer service, top notch vehicle repairs, and building a long-lasting relationship with others. We are quickly growing and in need of someone who performs with the same values we do. Our shop is new with all new equipment and is heated and air conditioned. We are open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and are closed on the weekends.

What we are looking for:

1. A reliable person who will show up on time and be ready to work.

2. Someone who is organized and keeps a clean workspace.

3. Someone who is honest and has a “team-player” attitude.

4. Someone who strives for customer satisfaction and doesn’t cut corners.

5. Ability to perform a thorough diagnosis on engine, suspension, and electrical components. Understanding of OBD 1, OBD 2 and other diagnostic systems. Familiar with BMW ISTA and other diagnostic software.

6. Ability to perform engine/transmission replacements, complete brake jobs, steering/suspension repairs, oil changes, A/C repair, general maintenance, alignments and more.

7. Someone who performs with safety as a top priority and has knowledge of shop tools and equipment.

Must have:

1. BMW Certified (preferred) and comfortable working on other makes/models as needed.

2. A valid driver license.

3. Your own tools.

4. 3+ years of experience.

5. Experience with BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Mini Cooper. (Preferred)

6. Detailed attention to record keeping, properly document the condition of a vehicle at the point of intake, perform all assigned points of inspection, faithfully report condition of vehicle parts, and determine priority of repair.

6. Maintain proper communication with Service Manager and Front Desk.

Compensation depends on experience: $25-$50/hr flat rate.

Paid Ongoing Training

Our shop & all equipment are only a year old. Shop is insulated & air conditioned.

When it comes to maintenance, most drivers stay on top of oil changes, brakes, and filters.

But what about the fluids that actually transfer power to the ground?

Transmission fluid, differential fluid, transfer case fluid, and Haldex fluid are some of the most overlooked services on modern vehicles, especially AWD cars.

The “Lifetime Fluid” Problem

Many manufacturers don’t list service intervals for these fluids. Some even label them as lifetime.

But “lifetime” usually means the lifetime of the warranty, not the lifetime of the car.

Over time, these fluids break down from:
Heat cycles
Shear forces between gears
Moisture contamination
Aggressive driving or track use
What Should You Service?

Transmission Fluid
Automatic or manual, fresh fluid keeps clutches, synchros, and gears protected. Heat is the enemy here.

Differential Fluid
Differentials constantly handle torque loads. Limited-slip differentials are even harder on fluid due to friction materials.

Transfer Case Fluid
On AWD vehicles, the transfer case/bevel box distributes power between axles. Neglected fluid can lead to binding or premature failure.

Haldex Fluid (Modern AWD Systems)
Found in many modern European AWD cars, Haldex systems rely on clean fluid and filters to engage properly. Dirty fluid can cause delayed engagement or system faults.

When Should You Change Them?
We recommend servicing these fluids every 30,000–50,000 miles, depending on use.
30k miles → Aggressive driving, track use, towing, limited-slip differentials
40–50k miles → Normal daily driving
If your car is modified, tracked, or driven hard, lean toward the shorter interval.

Why It Matters
Replacing a few liters of fluid is inexpensive. Replacing a transmission, differential, or AWD system component is not. Preventative maintenance keeps your drivetrain operating smoothly, reduces wear, and protects one of the most expensive parts of your vehicle.
