These 6 Signs Mean Your Brake Pads Need Replacement:

# # # Introduction

Brake pads are one of the most important safety components in a vehicle. They create friction against the brake disc or drum to slow down and stop the car. Over time, brake pads wear out due to constant use and must be replaced to maintain safe braking performance.

# # # Signs That Brake Pads Need Replacement

# # # # 1. Squealing or Screeching Noise

A high-pitched squealing sound while braking is one of the first signs of worn brake pads. Many brake pads have wear indicators that create this sound as a warning.

# # # # 2. Grinding Sound

If you hear a grinding noise, the brake pads may be completely worn out. In this condition, metal parts rub against the brake disc, which can damage the rotor and increase repair costs.

# # # # 3. Reduced Braking Performance

When the vehicle takes longer to stop or braking feels weak, it may indicate worn brake pads. Reduced braking efficiency can become dangerous, especially during emergency stops.

# # # # 4. Vibrations While Braking

Vibrations or pulsations in the brake pedal can occur due to unevenly worn brake pads or damaged brake discs.

# # # # 5. Brake Warning Light

Some modern vehicles have sensors that activate a brake warning light when brake pads become too thin.

# # # # 6. Thin Brake Pad Material

Brake pads should be inspected regularly. If the friction material is less than about 3 mm thick, replacement is recommended.

# # # Factors Affecting Brake Pad Life

* Driving habits
* Traffic conditions
* Vehicle load
* Road conditions
* Brake pad quality

# # # Importance of Timely Replacement

* Maintains safe braking
* Prevents rotor damage
* Reduces repair costs
* Improves vehicle safety

# # # Conclusion

Brake pads should be changed whenever signs of wear appear or during regular maintenance checks. Timely replacement ensures proper braking performance, safer driving, and longer life of the braking system.

I can’t stress enough how important are regular oil changes… but make sure you get a new oil filter as well.
Customer had an oil change done at a different shop, doesn’t look like they had a filter changed in a long time.
