We truly care about providing the best products and customer service to you. In 1955 John Palumbo was a 21 year old student at the Temple University. His first major was in Military Science and his secondary major was Dental Arts. A first generation American born son of immigrant parents from Italy, John was a self motivated, determined young man with a solid work ethic. In his sophomore year at T

emple he was looking for part time work and answered a newspaper ad from a local Goodyear Tire store in Philadelphia. John never having handled a tire before in his life, the store manager still saw "something" in that college kid and hired him on the spot at the Upper Darby Goodyear store. He quickly climbed the ladder and within 1 year he was the Philadelphia districts go to guy that was sent out to turn around the poorly performing Goodyear stores in the Philadelphia region. John was with "corporate" until 1971. It was in that year that he and his family took out a loan and purchased a dilapidated former gas station in the median of a mostly barren highway cut through the middle of a little crossroads town named Glasgow, DE . And all his colleagues laughed. In December of 1972 and after major modernizing and renovation John Palumbo’s Car Care & Appliance Center opened its doors. Shortly after opening John brought his younger brother "Frank" Palumbo in; who was a barber by trade; to the fledgling family business. Little did John's colleagues know what John already knew. See? John wasn't relying on the few homes and businesses in the immediate area. He was putting his money on the nearby towns and numerous new developments sprouting up a couple of miles away that would have a need for a reputable, professional tire and auto center. It didn't take long before everyone stopped laughing. Fast forward nearly fifty years and John is still coming in but mostly working in the back, although he frequently enjoys "working" the counter and above all he loves talking with his customers and employees. His son Steve growing up in the business of course made the tire business his career as well. And has been in the business for all of his adult life. You will find both John and Steve working hard to make your experience the best auto shop experience you ever had. Want a cup of coffee? Just ask. Naturally, the store has grown tremendously since the old days and Palumbo's Car Care Center is now THE state-of-the-art tire and auto service center in the area. Palumbo's warehouse is stuffed with thousands of tires in most all the major brands. And what they don't have they will get it faaaaaast. So "come on down" to our little piece of tire and auto paradise, and say "hello" to John and Steve and the rest of the crew and if you want, ask for that cup of coffee although one of them will probably beat you to it.
