Our second autocross of 2026 was a roaring success! Beautiful weather welcomed us to the American Muscle Car Museum in the early morning of Saturday May 16th. A slight chance of rain had been predicted for the first part of the day, but it seemed to roll through very early from about 3:30 to 4:00 am. By the time we started arriving, the track was completely dry and the sun was coming up and really heating things up!

With 38 drivers out of 40 registered showing up, we had three run groups: morning afternoon and the instructor/chair group running in between. Drivers registered in a timely fashion, grabbed a bagel and coffee from our Panera breakfast graciously provided by our sponsor Porsche of Melbourne, and walked and chalked the course. There was no confusion on run groups and work stations thanks to co-chair Julie W.'s meticulous organization. Thirteen novices were coached by six instructors and all of the instructor feedback was extremely positive. The mood was elevated and everyone went above and beyond their work assignments and helped tremendously with cleanup at the end of the day. We are very grateful for our PCA members and volunteers! Special thanks to Chris D. and our new volunteer Michael C., who volunteered to work even if they weren't driving, thank you so much! This event is possible through volunteers who keep this great event alive. I had more than a handful of people thank Julie and I for volunteering our time and that really means a lot!

The driver's meeting was handled by Rick R. and started promptly at 8am with the first run group lining up shortly thereafter. Mark M. did a great job for his first time running the start line with us, and Rick H. ran the finish line. Bob L. manned the start line in the afternoon and Glenn M. did a fabulous job at the finish line for our afternoon run. Thanks also to Summer A. and Andy and Alexis C. for the much needed help at the registration table and all around. Bob G. was outstanding at check in and covering stations. Tommy P., our tech inspector also wears a bunch of hats to make the event possible, thank you! Thanks to Carmen D. for his continued support with set up and course videos, which everyone has come to expect and find very useful.

Everyone was so fast! I'm not sure if it was something in the air, or if Panera slipped us some performance enhancing cream cheese, but sheesh, there were some fast times! All of the top ten drivers had sub 60 second times! The top five were within one second of difference from the leader! This is not normal, and definitely bears mentioning! Bob L. had the fastest time of day with a blistering 56.107 in his Boxster Spyder (pretty much a GT4 Convertible)! Rick H. snuck in late for second place with a 56.193 putting Carmen D. in third with a 56.521, all within less than a half second of each other! New drivers Mark M., Mark D. and Ryan G. made top ten their first time out, congratulations!

Thank you so much to everyone that came out and we hope to see you again on October 10th after the heat wave is (hopefully) over.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Porsche

For most Porsche enthusiasts, the opportunity to own a limited-production Porsche is something that lives purely in the imagination. For Merritt Island’s own Mr. Gary Peterson, that dream became reality.
Through a PCA Raffle, Mr. Peterson was selected as one of the fortunate few to receive the opportunity to purchase the extraordinarily rare 2026 Porsche 911 Club Coupe, commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Porsche Club of America. Limited to just 70 examples worldwide for PCA members in the United States and Canada, the Club Coupe instantly became one of the most exclusive modern Porsche models ever offered to club members.

Presented by Dylan Kotoulis at Porsche Melbourne, Mr. Peterson’s Club Coupe is far more than simply a rare car. It is a deeply personal Porsche, configured specifically to his tastes and built to celebrate both the heritage of the PCA and the passion of enthusiasts like him who continue to keep the spirit of the marque alive.

Based on the highly regarded 911 Carrera T platform, the 2026 Club Coupe pairs Porsche’s 388-horsepower twin-turbo flat-six engine exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, making it a true driver’s car in every sense. Porsche also equipped the car with enthusiast-focused performance features including PASM Sport Suspension, rear-axle steering, Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Torque Vectoring, and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

What truly separates the Club Coupe, however, are the details created specifically for this anniversary model through Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. Finished in the stunning new Paint to Sample “Sholar Blue Metallic,” named in honor of PCA founder Bill Sholar, the car features exclusive badging, red accent details inspired by PCA colors, unique interior treatments, illuminated “Porsche Club of America” door sills, and Club Coupe-specific touches throughout the cabin.

This newest Club Coupe also continues a very special Porsche tradition. Previous PCA anniversary Club Coupes were produced in 2005 for the club’s 50th anniversary and again in 2015 for the 60th anniversary. Each has since become highly collectible among Porsche enthusiasts.

For members of the Space Coast Region, seeing one of these incredibly rare cars delivered locally makes the moment even more special. It serves as a reminder of what makes PCA unique: the people, the stories, and the passion that connects generations of Porsche enthusiasts.

Congratulations again to Mr. Gary Peterson on securing not just an extraordinary automobile, but a true piece of Porsche Club of America history.
