After having a discussion with a friend/fellow parent, it occurred to me: not all estimates are the same! And not everyone knows that!
When calling for an estimate, be sure to compare apples to apples. Ask questions! Make sure you are being given an estimate that truly covers the work you need and is whats best for your vehicle, your budget and the longevity of the repair!
In this snip it of a timing chain estimate, the screenshot isn't even big enough to show you everything that WE would include in that job. Not every place you call and get an estimate from will include all of these parts. Some might only replace the chains, some might include a few more parts. Their estimate is going to be lower, and if you only compared it on the cost quoted you could end up choosing a repair that isn't best suited for you. You might even end up paying more when the job is done because other parts were needed that weren't planned for. The friend I was talking to had gotten 2 estimates from European shops with a $500 difference them. Without even seeing the estimates, I can already tell that 1 shop has quoted less parts for the job. And I could probably wager a bet that there would be a huge quality difference between the 2 as well.
We get it, life is expensive for everyone right now, and we aren't aiming for being the cheapest. Our aim is to do it right and do a quality repair that will last.
However, if budget is a concern: let us know so we can help you make the right choice! There's a good chance there's another option we can go with to get the repair done.

Dear Diary,
It was a good week. I got treats, butt scratches and some lady said I had good manners while we watched TV together (not sure what manners are, but I think it equals more treats). The guys made a bunch of noise in the shop, they said they replaced an engine in a Ford, lots of brakes, and AC work, and I heard them talk about a Toyota Supra and a Corvette. No idea what any of that means, but they looked busy so I think that means they had lots of fun this week. I hope they got treats too!
