Built in the early 1970s, the RX-3 (Savanna in Japan) was Mazda doubling down on rotary performance, but putting it into a lightweight, practical chassis like a wagon made it something completely different. Powered by engines like the 10A or later 12A rotary, these cars were incredibly small in displacement but could rev freely and produce power far beyond what you’d expect from their size.

What made the RX-3 especially unique was its motorsport dominance — these cars became giant killers in touring car racing, regularly taking on much larger piston-engine competitors and winning thanks to their lightweight design and high-revving nature. That racing DNA carried over even into the wagon variants, giving them a personality that felt far more aggressive than their body style suggested.

Another wild detail — the rotary’s compact size allowed it to sit further back in the engine bay, helping weight balance in a way most cars of that era simply didn’t prioritize. Combine that with the signature brap exhaust note and high exhaust temps, and you’ve got a car that feels alive in a way modern platforms struggle to replicate.

This one came through the shop for an alignment — keeping a rare piece of rotary history driving straight and true.

We recently had KillBoy’s Mercedes-AMG GTS come through the shop for a steering rack replacement, along with inner & outer tie rods, followed by a precision alignment.

Our master tech Thomas installed the new steering rack after diagnosing a noticeable catch while turning—a discrepancy that was affecting both drivability and safety. With the new rack in place, the steering feel is now smooth, consistent, and confidence-inspiring.

Once installation was complete, our in-house alignment tech Douglas dialed in a proper alignment to ensure the AMG is tracking exactly as it should before moving on to final quality checks and delivery.

Extremely grateful for the opportunity to work on projects like this and keep high-performance cars performing the way they were meant to.
