🚗💨 A Day in the Shop: Diagnosing and Fixing a 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel

At AlphaTech Automotive, no two days are the same. Recently, we had a 7.3 Powerstroke diesel in for a major repair—one that many might have missed if they weren’t paying close attention.

This truck came in with major oil loss, and after a thorough inspection, we found the culprit: a high-pressure oil pump (HPOP) that was leaking terribly. Now, when a diesel starts losing oil like that, it’s not just about the mess—it’s about engine performance. If you’re not careful, a leak like this can lead to low oil pressure, poor performance, and, if left unchecked, a full engine failure.

We didn’t waste any time. We replaced the faulty HPOP, making sure to seal everything properly and check all oil lines to prevent future leaks. A few extra steps like flushing the oil system to clear out any contaminants, and we were ready to get the truck back on the road.

💪 Moral of the story? Diesel engines are tough, but they need attention and care. A little extra time spent diagnosing and fixing small issues can save you big headaches down the road. At AlphaTech Automotive, we’re always ready to help our customers get back on the road safely and smoothly. Recently, we had a customer come in experiencing serious drivability issues—rough idling, loss of power, and poor acceleration. After a thorough inspection and a backpressure test, we discovered the culprit: a clogged catalytic converter.

The clogged catalytic converter was restricting exhaust flow, causing a lot of strain on the engine and affecting overall performance. To get this customer back to cruising smoothly, we replaced the faulty cat with a brand-new one and performed another backpressure test to ensure everything was working perfectly.

Result? 🚙 ✅ Restored engine performance ✅ No more drivability concerns ✅ Back on the road in no time!
