9,800 miles on a 2021 Lamborghini Huracán EVO, and it's due for its 40,000-mile service anyway.

The service schedule goes by years as well as miles. Fluids and serviceable parts break down over time whether the car gets driven or not. So this one got plugs, cabin filter, the engine air filters cleaned, transmission service, brake fluid flush and an oil change. Billy did the transmission filter, and it's back on the road the next day.

Four things in this video that nobody will ever see again once the covers go back on.

The belt writing faces out, so the next person can read it. The timing marks line up block, front cover, crank pulley. The belt gets pulled tight opposite the tensioner. And every water pump bolt is torqued to 17 newton meters with blue Loctite, because those bolts seal coolant into the engine.

A serpentine belt has exactly one correct path, and it is not obvious by looking at it.

On this one: around the crankshaft, under the tensioner, up over the power steering, all the way down to the AC compressor and back around it. That specific order, or it never sits at the proper tension.

Five pulleys on this car. Plenty of cars run more, and some run separate belts entirely. One for the alternator, one for the AC.

It is one belt driving the things you notice the second they stop. Hudson NH.

Your air conditioning matters more in January than it does in July.

Most newer cars run the AC compressor whenever you hit defrost, and it is not to make the cabin cold. It is to pull the moisture out of the air. Warm dry air clears a windshield far faster than warm wet air does.

Which means an AC system that quietly quit in August is a defrost problem on the first freezing morning, and you find out on the way to work.

If the carpet on your passenger or driver side is wet in the middle of summer, that is not a leak. It is your AC.

Your air conditioning makes water, that is what the puddle under your car on a hot day is. It leaves through a condensation drain. When that drain clogs, the water has nowhere to go but the floor of your car.

It is also why it is the first thing we check before an air-box cleaning: we are about to put liquid into that box, and if the drain is blocked it sits in the bottom instead of draining out.

Go check your floor mats. If they are damp, that is the answer.

We were doing the cabin air treatment on a Toyota and a client standing in the lot overheard us. His car is a smoker's car. So we did his too.

That filter should come out a crisp white. This one did not, and it smelled of smoke because smoke does not sit in the seats, it sits in the air path, and every time the fan runs it comes back through.

Same treatment: filter out, the whole air box cleaned, most of that residue gone with it.

A new cabin filter does not fix the smell. The smell is in the air box.

On this Prius there is no direct access, so the blower motor comes out to get the wand in to the evaporator and the heater core. A cleaning solution goes in on shop air and sprays 360 degrees through the whole box. You can watch it come out of the vents and drain back out under the car.

It kills the germs and the bacteria in there, not just the smell. Then it sits for twenty minutes and the car is done.
