Ok gang, there's an elphant in the room that needs to be addressed, so please read, this is important. This will ruffle a few feathers but it has to happen, track owners/operators and their crew put in so much effort to provide a place for us all to play, they ask very little, still, it is ignored by some, so I will speak up.
This past offseason, a number of individuals met numerous times to establish a set of rules and classes that make sense for today's demands and a focus on future growth. These efforts have paid off with excellent competition and are being adopted by other tracks around the region.
Tech and marshalling are areas that we addressed that I have failed to enforce. I won't make excuses, but I will take action. The tech table will come back out and Everyone, Everytime, will place their cars and radios on it after their race for possible inspection. The top 2 will immediately go marshal. Failure to comply will now earn you a DQ for that class for the event with no refund. There will be NO exceptions to the tech table rule, help each other out, we don't want to enforce this rule.
The exceptions to note: One rule we established that I am proud of, no one over 60 is asked to marshal, they may choose to if they are able, they have earned that respect. They are however expected to arrange their own substitute and the younger guys should be more than willing to step up to help these guys out, after all, they are the guys you lean on for set-up advice.
Anyone dealing with a temporary of permanent dissability preventing you from marshalling, this isn't at all about you, we will do absolutely anything necessary so you can participate. You will need to secure a substitute as well but there should be plenty of folks willing to step up to help.
For the rare back to back racing situation, simply switch marshal duties with someone to cover your responsibility.
All marshall subs will report to the track director/announcer immediatly after the completion of the prior race. Your substitute is YOUR responsibility, not everyone else's.
Additional exceptions that are true of EVERY track: Any personnel helping run the race, track volunteers, tech crew.
Any physical or verbal abuse of track crew, marshals, or other drivers will NOT be tolerated. Any concerns should be discussed with the track director After the race, and in a calm, respectful manner. As is the rule at other popular tracks, violating this rule will earn you some time off.
Some basics on marshalling, marshal how you want to be marshalled. If you don't put in the effort, don't complain if a marshal lets you sit. Marshals, always watch oncoming traffic and do not make one driver's problem someone else's. Watch your turn, not the race. Anticipate a problem and be ready.
Lastly, know that I hate rules but what I hate even more is hearing someone had a bad night because someone else was selfish. Remember we are all just trying to have some fun, no sticker is worth making someone feel bad so win or lose with class, be humble, and help move the hobby forward with positivity. See you at the track!!
