"Sometimes dedicated long-time recreational and amateur competition motorcyclists decide to change their relationship with riding. They’ll decide to ride even more days than they already do. For reasons they probably don’t fully understand themselves, and may not even be fully aware of, riding mostly on weekends and on wonderful warm summer evenings becomes not enough. Somehow, without quite realizing it, they sort of slip off motorcycling’s deep end.
This happened to me, and I still don’t exactly know how or why.
Sometimes, young riders begin riding for transportation to their first job, or to high school. Others start such utility transportation riding later in life, sometimes much later. Still others may enjoy riding for a year or two until ‘life’ happens to them (job/wife/kid/money/etc) and this brings a halt to their riding, but years later they take it up again..."
