Juneteenth marks a significant milestone in American history. On June 19, 1865 — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation — enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom. The day has since become a celebration of freedom, resilience, and progress, while also serving as a time to reflect on our shared history and the ongoing work toward equality.

Today, we honor the significance of Juneteenth and the stories, culture, and community it represents.
