A Note About Fuel Quality
The fuel you put in your vehicle matters.
After more than 30 years as an ASE-certified technician and automotive business owner, I have consistently recommended Chevron gasoline—preferably 91/92 octane premium—for gasoline-powered vehicles.
Over the years, I have personally observed better results with Chevron fuel compared with other brands. I have also received consistent feedback from customers reporting smoother-running engines, improved throttle response, and noticeable increases in fuel economy after switching to and consistently using Chevron premium fuel.
Modern engines use adaptive ECM/PCM systems that continuously monitor combustion and knock activity and can adjust ignition timing based on operating conditions. Higher-octane fuel provides greater resistance to detonation and can allow the engine to operate with less knock intervention when conditions warrant it.
However, fuel quality is about more than octane. The detergent and additive package in gasoline can play an important role in maintaining injector cleanliness and controlling deposits, helping the engine maintain proper fuel delivery and combustion over time.
Based on more than three decades of professional experience, Chevron 91/92 premium is the fuel I personally use and the fuel I recommend to my customers.
Your vehicle manufacturer’s owner’s manual should always be followed regarding minimum octane requirements.
Quality fuel is preventive maintenance.
