Some highlights from last weekend’s Burly Super Cup (NW Gold Cup) at SIMA. It was a great weekend of racing near the border, and we couldn’t be more proud of how our drivers, Mauricio Parada and Faris Al-Otoom, performed.
Mauricio put in a brilliant performance in the Pro Shifter and LO206 Sr classes. After a thumb injury at the Tri-Cities round kept him out of the shifter kart for a couple of months, he didn’t miss a beat—he jumped right back on the pace to take 5th in the Shifter Finals with the 4th fastest time of the day. He also showed his consistency in a massive LO206 Sr field of over 40 drivers, securing a 6th place finish in the Pre-Final.
Faris took a massive step forward this weekend, elevating his game to a whole new level since his regional debut in Tri-Cities. He was consistently running in the top 7 to 9 for lap times and holding his own in the 9th to 11th range. In one standout race, he fought his way from 12th on the grid up to 7th. He is proving to be a true contender and is getting faster every time he hits the track.
Job well done too by our mechanics Mauricio (Sr) and Randy, staying on top of the changing conditions with sunshine, rain, and wind!
We were also thrilled with the performance of our Word Racing prepared LO206 engines. They were fast, reliable, and didn’t leave our drivers short on power—performing right on par with, or better than, anything else in the paddock.
