FUN FACT FRIDAY!
Ever notice the little black dots around the edges of your windshield?
They're not just decoration! Those dots are part of the “frit” — a baked-on ceramic coating around the edge of automotive glass.

The solid black border helps protect the adhesive holding your windshield in place from UV rays, while the gradually shrinking dots help create a smoother transition from the dark border to the clear glass.

So that pattern you've probably looked through thousands of times actually has a job.

October is a great time to give your vehicle a little attention before Minnesota's colder weather settles in.

A few things worth checking this fall:

Ever wonder why your car's horn goes “honk” instead of playing your favorite song? 😄
Early automobiles didn't all use the electric horns we're familiar with today. Drivers used all sorts of warning devices—including bells, whistles and hand-squeezed bulb horns.
Eventually, electric horns became the standard, and thankfully the roads got a little less like a traveling circus. 🎺😂

Does paying more at the pump mean your car will run better?

Not necessarily!

Premium fuel has a higher octane rating, but if your vehicle is designed for regular gas, filling up with premium usually won’t improve performance or fuel economy.

The best fuel for your vehicle? **The one the manufacturer recommends.**

Remember when “change your oil every 3,000 miles” was practically a rule carved in stone?

Modern engines and modern motor oils have come a long way. Many newer vehicles now have manufacturer-recommended oil-change intervals of 5,000, 7,500, 10,000 miles—or sometimes even longer, depending on the vehicle, oil and driving conditions.

Better synthetic oils, improved engine design and sophisticated oil-life monitoring systems have helped make those longer intervals possible.

The important part? Don't rely on an old rule of thumb—or simply assume longer is better. Follow the maintenance schedule specified for your vehicle and pay attention to its oil-life monitor if equipped.
