Well the RX8 finally has a new (ish) heart.
Well over a year ago now, the factory Renesis engine did Renesis things.
We were at odds at where to go, rebuild at relatively great expense to end up with the same gutless Renesis which to a petrol head is a painful experience.
We seriously considered building a 13B PP for it. Eventually smarts came into play and the even more horrible expense to do so, to end up with not a $$ to power gain worth the effort, never mind the fact the car would be a rotten pig to drive as a daily, meant na that wasnt going to happen and a factory rebuild was the plan and money saved would go on the cars that mattered, like BTCHN7 and TSKBA7.
Then a friend Andrew Smith recently offered his FD transplanted RX8 for sale, less the engine block and a spark lit.
With the very sad and unfortunate demise of BTCHN7 earlier this year thanks to some Superhero in his not so trusty steed 'Golf GTi' (whom not surprisingly we haven't heard from since I last contacted him) decided my wifes RX7 would get in the way of his s**tty driving, now, we at least had an engine that was useful, so a plan was very quickly put together.
So we have now completed the transplant of what is an Pulse Performance FD RX7 13B conversion but using our own FD Engine block. We figured the cost of buying a mates entire car and using the entire conversion was easier than going full custom and we already could see the results. Yesterdays tune, seems bang on to what our mate had in his RX8 with a similar spec FD engine. We could push to 500rwhp that this block has made easily before, but 1, the cheap bingbong china turbo in this kit (we are using all the kit, only the engine block was from BTCHN7) wont last long at that power level, nor would the engine like the heat its causing, 2 a bigger more suitable turbo with a more suitable turbine side probably wouldn't fit where the turbo is placed. Great placement, but s**t if you wanted to really upgrade, but if that was our concern we wouldn't have gone this way. 400 sounds good one day lol
And no, just because it has an FD RX7 engine transplant, doesnt make it an FD RX7!
big thanks to Mark Haynes for sorting the tune.
