TWO WINS OUT OF THREE FOR DANIEL LUDLAM
Race Three capped off a breakthrough weekend for Daniel Ludlam. After his first ever win, Daniel backs it up with another race win. And to cap it all off, he wins the round. Hard Core.

While Glen Collinson started on pole, he was immediately challenged by Daniel Ludlam who was ahead by Lap Two. It didn’t last. Glen soon took back the lead, but below the surface, trouble was brewing.

A little further back, Mitch Sparrow was charging up from last and up to 6th by the third lap. But it was tight. Barely 2 seconds separated the top six places.

Then it all changed. On lap four, Glen’s Ford was in trouble. The tooth fairy visited his gearbox, all he had was third gear, and his opportunist adversaries streamed past.

By lap six, Daniel has holding onto the lead, Brad Kroef was 2nd, Phill Ross & Mitch Sparrow were scrapping out for 3rd – trading places but not paint. This was close but clean racing.

A the chequered flag, Daniel was the winner, Brad bagged more valuable points for 2nd , and set the fastest lap. Phill Ross prevailed over Mitch Sparrow for 3rd. Gripping stuff. This is going to be one exciting season.

MAIDEN WIN FOR DANIEL LUDLAM

After starting 8th, Daniel Ludlam stormed through for a hard-fought win, with Glen Collinson over 8 secs back in 2nd and Cam Vernon 3rd. Greg Kroef put in a great race moving up from his 7th start position to finish 4th. Phill Ross kept a cool head and a heavy right foot accelerating up 4 spots from 9th to 5th.

Daniel’s race was maturely managed, as he slipped through the midfield corner after corner. When he hit the lead on the third lap, he sprinted away, enjoying the unfamiliar luxury of a clear track ahead, and continued to stretch his lead lap after lap.

Meanwhile, Glen Collinson was on a charge and was hassling Cam Vernon for 2nd by the fith lap. Cam managed to keep ahead of the V8 utes veteran, until eventually relenting late in the race.

The race wasn’t so good for Mitch Sparrow, coming off the track and his left front suspension coming off second best. Right now, Mitch and his crew are replacing a broken shock absorber. It’s looking good for them to be ready for Race Three this afternoon.

The gang is back for a new season....

BRAD KROEF WINS, COLLINSON 2nd, SPARROW FLIES INTO 3rd
Brad Kroef triumphed again but it’s already evident he’ll have to work harder this season. With so many new factors – a rookie driver, a new ute and the NI Sixes right behind them, Race One was going to answer a lot of questions.

Rookie Mitch Sparrow mounted a serious challenge the whole race. Sparrow flew around Kroef on turn one, lap one, from there it was game on. Just behind them, Glen Collinson eventually got Daniel Ludlam and was ready to pounce.

Phill Ross had a great start leaping from 7th to 4th all on the first lap, also getting around Daniel Ludlam. Lap after lap the leaders were separated by barely a second. Then they encountered lapped traffic catching passing the NI Sixes.

Collinson snatched 2nd when Sparrow went wide on the final turn into the main straight late in the race. That’s how the final podium places finished with Phill Ross a comfortable 4th . Also on a great charge Jeremy Hunt moved up from 12th to finish 9th. Great driving.

Clearly, Mitch Sparrow is taking the pressure in his stride. After the race he confessed, “It was a wide blue ute up in front, “ referring to Brad Kroef’s defensive driving skills holding onto in the lead. “But it was fun.”

With a reverse grid Race Two tomorrow, prepare for another overtaking exhibition.

GLEN COLLINSON WINS RACE 3

Glen Collinson came out on top of the 60 minute Race 3 in the final round of the UDC V8 Utes series.

Yet a real surprise talent came second. After starting the race in 12th, Brad Wenzlick overtook his way to 2nd . He had a play in the sandpit along the way but recovered quickly and continued his overtaking.

With the points for 3rd in the series so close coming into Race Two, a good performance from Greg, Dan and Phill was essential. Greg Kroef was the one to keep it all together, securing the hotly-contested 3rd place on the podium.

Congratulations on great endurance racing.

BRAD WINS RACE ONE, BUT THE SERIES POINTS ARE GETTING CLOSER.

Race One was an absolute thriller with Brad Kroef finishing on top. A gentleman’s agreement saw top qualifier Brad Wenzlick opting to start down in 12th to allow the series leaders to scrap it out unhindered. But he didn’t sit there for long. Here’s what happened.

After starting 2nd, Glen Collinson got around Brad Kroef coming into the first corner, but Brad Kroef wasn’t relenting. Brad regained the lead on lap 6, and hung on. Meanwhile, Brad Wenzlick was diligently slicing through the mid-field.

Brad Kroef and Glen Collinson swapped positions twice more during the race, but by Lap 9 Brad Wenzlick was their major concern. At the chequered flag, just .6 seconds separated the front 3. Tight.

“I didn’t want to ruin it for them... (Glen & Brad) up front,” Brad confessed after the race. “But if I had another lap I’d have given it a crack.” He said with a wry smile.

Another performance of note was newcomer Mitch Sparrow. “I had a rookie moment. I left the reverse switch up and had no 5th gear for the first 5 laps.” Noneless he managed to hold 6th place.

Greg Kroef was hampered by a misfire, relegating him to 14th. Rest assured Vince Gee is onto it. “We’re going to change some s**t to eliminate the problem.”

All this Race One action has created a logjam in the points race. meaning the series winners will all be decided in Race Two. Let’s see who’s firing on all cylinders.
