The team at MGI Engineering specialises in applying F1 technology, R&D, simulation and innovation, on-time delivery and risk management into the wider mainstream automotive, aerospace and marine industries. MGI’s electric vehicle knowledge includes hybrid motorsports applications, Formula E, hybrid sports cars, electric aviation and the rapidly expanding world of

eVTOL. Our projects have included the design of lightweight composite mainstream aerospace components in aircraft such as the Airbus A320neo and Bombardier CSeries. The specialist team at MGI Engineering has built on its background of top end Formula 1 engineering and project management expertise and has now further expanded to specialise into the lightweight electric vehicle solutions sector while remaining true to its motorsport roots. We provide solutions for the automotive sector and both, mainstream aviation and particularly in the emerging sector of specialist electric vehicles, including Electric Vertical Take off and Landing Vehicles (eVTOL).

MGI Engineering and Vigilar Group Announce Strategic UAV Manufacturing Partnership at DSEI 2025

MGI Engineering and Italy’s Vigilar Group S.p.A. proudly announced their new strategic manufacturing partnership at DSEI UK 2025, showcasing the collaboration in front of the SkyShark drone platform on the MGI stand.
The partnership brings together MGI’s advanced autonomous platform design capabilities with Vigilar’s high-end production expertise, enabling scalable European manufacturing of cutting-edge UAVs such as SkyShark and TigerShark. This development forms part of MGI’s mission to rapidly deliver lightweight, high-performance unmanned systems that support defence operations in contested environments.
“This partnership is a natural evolution of our strategy to scale high-performance mobility solutions globally,” said Mike Gascoyne, CEO of MGI Engineering. “Vigilar shares our passion for engineering excellence and innovation.”
Both companies will focus on co-development, prototyping, and full-scale production of next-generation unmanned platforms that prioritise autonomy, sustainability, and battlefield utility.
MGI and Vigilar’s announcement comes at a time of increasing demand for cost-effective, persistent surveillance and strike capabilities across NATO and allied defence environments.

Reflecting on an incredibly productive DSEI UK 2025 for MGI Engineering Ltd.
Our drone technologies - SkyShark and TigerShark - generated significant interest throughout the event, with particularly engaging discussions around our iterative development capabilities. The ability to deliver rapid upgrades through short development cycles clearly resonated with visitors seeking agile innovation.
We were honoured to have DCGS General Eastman visit our stand, along with many other senior MOD leaders - their genuine interest in our F1-derived approach to cutting-edge defence solutions was both encouraging and validating.
As a defence SME, we're proud that our unique position allows us to move quickly from concept to demonstration, delivering the kind of responsive innovation to meet tomorrow’s threat.

Our unique cargo eVTOL UAV technology demonstrator was launched in 2023. We leveraged our one-of-a-kind expertise in F1 and the eVTOL industry to demonstrate a unique solution which is fully configurable, modular, scalable, and payload agnostic. This approach significantly accelerates the platforms’ route-to-market while maximising performance.

This could have not happened without our excellent team which has the unique skillsets and know-how required to have been able to design, build, and flight the platform in less than 4 months.

We do challenge anyone to find another business in the world who has the F1 and eVTOL experience we have!
