Important information from DVSA

We’re changing how learners can swap their driving tests
From 1 October, the process for how learner drivers can swap their driving test is changing.

The change will remove the need for learners to coordinate their availability and will make the process smoother and less stressful.

What's changing
To request a swap, the first learner driver will still need to call DVSA. The second learner will then need to call DVSA on the same working day to confirm they're happy with the swap.

We can only process the swap if both learners call DVSA on the same working day.

Previously, both learners needed to be available at the same time to make the swap.

Well done Lucy for passing her practical driving test with ZERO faults recorded ... We wish you all the very best 😁

💔 A disagreement. A loss. A lifetime of grief.

In August 2012, Tom and his best mate Jack, went out together for a night in Birmingham.

After an argument, they parted ways in anger. Hours later, Tom received a phone call that would change his life forever.

Jack had been killed in a single-vehicle crash.

More than 14 years later, Tom still lives with the question no one can answer:

"If I'd left with him, would he still be alive?"

The grief and guilt that followed led Tom down a dark path, affecting his mental health, relationships and future.

Today, Tom is a firefighter, advanced trauma care practitioner and wellbeing lead, using his experiences to help others at their worst moments and encourage safer choices on our roads.

His message is simple:

Road crashes don't just affect those involved. The consequences ripple through families, friends and communities for years, sometimes a lifetime.

If you're struggling with grief, guilt or trauma following the loss of a loved one, please know that support is available and talking about it can be the first step towards healing.
