It’s been a while since our last post but we’ve not stopped working hard to keep cars on the road and open up new areas of repairs that we can offer. We were contacted about a job that no one else locally would do, we say local no one within 30 miles would try. So we rolled up our sleeves and got on with it like we do. We often get asked what we think of wet timing belts and the failures that they suffer with. In our experience we have found that the issue isn’t due to the belt but the maintenance of the vehicle. Examples in the pictures of 2 different Ford Ecoboost engines, the first 2 are from a vehicle that we have maintained for our customer every year regardless of mileage done etc and done the level of service that our customers are accustomed to. The last picture is an oil pump that was suffering with low oil pressure that was maintained sporadically.
We’ve seen this with the Peugeot/Vauxhall engines as well.
Moral of the story good maintenance and regular servicing will save in the long run.

One of our latest more intriguing recent repairs, 530 hybrid BMW with a drive battery warning and no 12v battery charge. Diagnosed to the control units within the main battery pack. New controllers fitted and reprogrammed and vehicle back out on the road.

We would like to make our customers aware that the Ministry of Transport are forewarning garages that September/October are set to be the busiest months ever for MOT tests.

This is because of the covid extensions that were previously issued and high levels of new car registrations.

You are allowed to have your MOT test a month less a day before the due date without losing any time on your previous MOT so for example if you are due on the 13th September, you can have it done from today onwards and it won’t run out until 14th September 2025.

Please ensure you book your MOT in plenty of time.

Today was one of the hardest I’ve ever had. Saying good bye to one of the kindest, hard working, honest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know and not least call my friend. I know how proud you were everything that we achieved together and I promise to keep going with the plans that we had together and hope to make you proud of the business that we built. Rest in peace Alex.

A lot of people have asked about ways in which they can remember Alex. In lieu of flowers for the funeral the family have set up a Just Giving page, with the proceeds going directly to Macmillan who helped Alex throughout his illness.

We will be closed on the 18th but normal service will resume on the 19th June 2024.

As many of you know, one of our Directors, Alex has been battling with cancer. It is with the heaviest of hearts we have to sadly announce that Alex lost his battle last week.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing support through this difficult time, not only for us, at the garage, but for Alex’s family.

Alex and Justin set up the business back in 2015 and over the last 9 years they have worked together to create a thriving business. The garage will continue and will always remain JA Services, and we will proudly continue what Alex and Justin started.

Funeral arrangements are currently underway, when we know more we will share the details for anyone wanting to pay their respects.
