1983 Porsche 924 2.0
Recovered in due to a non start - diagnosis found the fuel filter was full of rust due to the fuel tank being excessively corroded on the inside.
Fuel tank removed and sent away for refurbishment, fuel lines blown and washed through, injectors checked, fuel pump replaced, fuel filter replaced, fuel pressure accumulator removed and cleaned out, warm up regulator removed and cleaned out.
Fresh fuel put it and it fired straight up, ran for 2 minutes then cut out.
Due to it not starting again, more diagnosis was required - a compression test carried out which resulted in number 3 cylinder being low.
The cylinder head was then removed and checked, with the camshaft out and all the valves closed found that number 3 inlet valve wasnt seated properly resulting in low compression, the cylinder head was sent away to have the valves lapped in and pressure tested.
The cylinder head back from the machine shop and refitted, I also fit a new timing belt and set all the hydraulic tappets to the correct specification.
Engine fine tuned on the emissions machine using the k-jetronic system on the car and now runs better than ever.
