🇬🇧 If you get 6 penalty points within your first 2 years of passing your driving test, your licence is revoked under the New Drivers Act

🚨 What that means

🪪 Your full licence is revoked
🔄 You go back to being a provisional licence holder
📝 You must reapply for a provisional licence
📘 You must retake both the theory test and the practical driving test

⚠️ Important points people often misunderstand

🚫 This is not a ban
Your licence is revoked, not disqualified. You are legally a learner again.

📌 The points stay on your record
Any penalty points you already have are carried forward onto your new full licence once you pass again.
They do not reset.

⏳ Points only disappear when they expire

⏱️ Speed does not matter
6 points from one offence or several offences still triggers revocation if it happens within the first 2 years.

💷 Insurance will usually increase
Even after you pass again, insurers can see the points and the revocation.

📆 After 2 years
The New Drivers rules no longer apply, but 12 points within 3 years can still lead to a ban under totting-up rules.

🧠 The first two years after passing are a probation period in everything but name. The law assumes new drivers need a higher standard of care while experience is still developing.

Passing the test gets you legal.

Staying legal keeps you driving.

Miles for Smiles - 204 Miles for Speed Of Sight

In 2026, Im running 204 miles across organised running events to raise money for Speed Of Sight, a charity that gives adults and children with disabilities the chance to drive specially adapted cars on real race tracks.

❗️IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL LEARNER DRIVERS ❗️

By spring 2026, DVSA will:

🚙 Change the booking service to allow only learner car drivers to book and manage their tests. (instructor can set availability)

🚙 Introduce a limit on the number of times a learner car driver can move or swap a test to twice and also limit the area they can move a test to once booked.

🚙 Make use of Ministry of Defence (MOD) driving examiners for up to 12 months to help tackle driving test waiting times.

🚙 Overall, this decision will have an impact on the driving schools everywhere.

Congratulations to Mason who is the first driving test pass of ‘24 👍

An early start and some damp weather didnt faze Mason, who drove smooth and confident to gain a pass with only one minor driving fault 👏

Well done pal, really great to see you pass, putting in the dedication and focus to get yourself your licence and driving freedom 👍

Interesting points… low rolling resistance tyres, sound good for economy and eco driving, but less grip in wet handling and braking … something to think about
