The Classic Engine Shed

The Classic Engine Shed Carrying out rebuild and modification of all classic car engines and parts. From SAAB two stroke to Maserati V8, and anything in between.

I can carry out rebuild and modifications of all classic car engines and related parts. I am a fully qualified and apprenticed mechanic with over 25years experience working on classic engines. I have worked for many specialists Maserati, Lancia, lotus and others. I have also spent 6years
working on classic aircraft, where attention to detail and quality are paramount, (especially as I knew i would

be on the test flight.) Most of my time has been spent carrying out proper engine rebuilds, including Morris, Hillman, MG, Ford and many others, some to as near original as possible (including making parts and white metalling) but many with varying degrees of modification. This is the service that I would like to offer. All full rebuilds that come with ancillaries that I re build I will be able to test run in a bespoke test frame. I can offer a free collection and return if within a 100mile radius for full engine rebuilds any further I will subsidize a courier. I can overhaul carburettors and other ancillaries. All work will come with a photo album (on USB stick) and a full break down of work carried out and parts used. Many thanks for reading this description of what I have to offer.

Just started on a pair of 1,1/4 SU carbs for an Austin Healey frog eye Sprite, They don't look to bad but looks can be deceptive and they need a complete overhaul including shaft bushes and shaft, so a good clean to start with then rebuild.

I haven't been doing much lately as have been very busy with other things, I will be in the workshop with a vengeance soon as I really want to get the SAAB two stroke finished and I have two Triumph engines for work. Will be posting more soon.

Having soaked the bores of the Saab 2stroke for about 4 weeks now I had first attempt at removing pistons, problem is all three have to come out at the same time and still attached to crankshaft!! Did get them to move a bit so tomorrow its heat the block time.

Started the porting on the turbo engine today, also modifying and matching the inlet manifold, this will be located on the head with dowels rather than the steel tubes normally used, this will give a larger outlet for the manifold, very useful.

On my second Herald 1200 engine now, this one is going to be a turbo and hoping for 90-100hp. A couple of pictures of the rods during prep and an inlet valve modified as a buck for making some new ones.
