Customer notice:
We have been absolutely inundated recently with major repairs and plenty of breakdowns turning up. Because of this, we are unfortunately behind schedule. We are working as hard as we can to catch up, unfortunately, vehicles do throw up other issues even when being repaired, which also puts us behind schedule.
We are currently booking 5 weeks in advance so we are asking our customers to not leave MOT's or important jobs until the last minute as we may not be able to accommodate you and we don't wish to disappoint.

We had this 2014 Vauxhall Vivaro come to us after going elsewhere for the air conditioning to be looked at. Customer said that an attempt was made to re-gas the system but there was a leak and it wouldn't take gas. Unfortunately they weren't given any more details than that, which we like as we can then do our own checks and diagnostics on the system. After checking the system for leaks and carrying out a vacuum test on the system (amazingly the system held vacuum), we found the condensor to be in the the state shown on the pictures, barely any fins left and also bowed at the bottom.
Removal of the front bumper was required along with partially removing the driver's side headlamp and support bars to access and replace the condensor. We ran another test on the system after replacing the condensor and then re-gassed and added tracer dye in with fresh compressor oil to the system to aid in finding any future leaks, if any.
Another happy customer with ice cold air conditioning ready for a drive over to France in a few weeks time.

We've had two interesting jobs in this week on vehicles that have been to dealerships first. First one through the doors was a 2018 Ford Galaxy with the 2.0 ecoblue engine. Customer brought it to us for a second opinion after being informed of a potential rodent intrusion in the engine bay plus an intermittent engine management light on for glow plugs. Upon inspection we found that there was evidence of rodent intrusion as can be seen on the pictures. The dealer was concerned that was the reason behind the glow plugs failure and wanted £620 just to investigate! We priced up to carry out our own investigation and repairs which came in just under £520 and cured the problem. Luckily, whatever decide to take up refuge in the engine bay didn't decide to nibble at any wiring.
Glow plugs removed and tested after removal of the charge air cooler and partially removing the alternator to gain access, replaced and charge air cooler refitted using brand new genuine gaskets and seals.
Second vehicle was a Hyundai i20 which had been dealer serviced from new. Customer was a bit confused after having front and rear brakes replaced in 2025 at vast expense, £800 we were informed, only to be told at service this year that the rears were 40% worn. We inspected all brake linings and found the rears were worn down on one side due to the pads being seized in the pad carrier and severely overheated. Upon closer inspection we found the dealer had fitted aftermarket brakes to the vehicle. We're not saying there is anything wrong with fitting aftermarket brakes, we do it ourselves, we found it peculiar to find a dealer fitting aftermarket brakes at such a vast cost. Unfortunately for the customer we had to fit rear brake discs and pads again only a year after they were originally fitted.
It's not all bad news though, the dealer offered a full refund on labour and parts as an apology.
Safe to say, 2 very happy new customers and will be returning in the future for any other repairs and maintenance

It's that time of year again...
The sun is shining, the temperature is in the mid 20's, possibly creeping towards 30°C, you hop in the car for a trip to the seaside or a nice country walk, you pop the air con on as it feels like a sauna inside the cabin... disaster strikes! All you are feeling is hot air coming from the vents! 🥵🫠

Do not fear! We can help you out. We have the facilities to service both R134a and R1234yf air conditioning systems.
R134a service £85
R1234yf service £170

Why choose us?
We are fully aware that we may not be the "cheapest" out there for air conditioning servicing. We understand that times are hard for a lot of people at the moment so spending as little as possible on the car is a bonus. Unfortunately, as we've come to notice recently, a lot of the bigger chain companies, not naming names but if we were to say orange background beginning with H or blue background and calls themselves "quick", that sort of garage, can do it a lot cheaper. We have noticed though they only offer an air conditioning recharge, just adding gas to the system and also telling you there is a leak in the system, drawing out all gas and leaving it empty.
We will have an examination of the system first, offer a nitrogen test on the system if we feel there could be a leak to diagnose first, then carry out the system service and check full operation of the system before returning the vehicle to you.
If you wish to book in for a air conditioning service, call 01603 485200 or pop in and see us

Customer notice:
Due to ever increasing overheads, as of April 1st 2026, our labour rate will be increasing from £70 per hour to £75 per hour.
We understand that everything in life has gone up in price, we feel it ourselves on a personal level. Unfortunately, it is no different for us in business terms either.
We know our customers will understand this price increase and thank you for your continued custom and support. We still aim to give you the best customer service and experience possible from an independent garage.
Thank you.

The job we did to receive the wonderful message received in yesterday's post. Bit of a long winded one. This customer brought his 2021 Citroen Berlingo to us before Christmas with an AdBlue fault. We ran a diagnostic check on the vehicle and found faults for AdBlue pump failure and deNoX efficiency. Knowing that AdBlue pumps are a common failure on Peugeot/Citroen vehicles we installed a brand new tank with pump and reset all AdBlue learned values. Customer took the van and all was well for just over a week.
Unfortunately, the customer then messaged before the new year to say the AdBlue warning light was on again and 450 miles to no start.
He returned the vehicle to us when we reopened after the Christmas break for us to carry out further diagnostics. The deNoX efficiency code had returned. We pulled the AdBlue injector from SCR catalyst and found carbon deposits building up around the nozzle, not a good sign. We removed the catalyst, SCR cat and DPF unit from the vehicle and sent to a local specialist for testing. They found the DPF had cracked and was allowing exhaust gases to travel back up to the SCR cat where it was then confusing the deNoX system. The specialist was able to open up the unit and replace the DPF core with an uprated core which we now know are a common failure. Sadly for this customer it didn't stop there. While we were removing the DPF unit we noticed he had other issues which would cause more issues fairly imminently. The turbo had excessive amounts of oil seeping past the impeller and collecting in the boost pipes, new turbo required. The cam cover was warped and leaking oil, new cam cover required. New AdBlue injector required as the original had carbon deposits around the nozzle. Engine oil and filter change as the oil was contaminated from failed DPF regenerations with fuel, also, an oil change is required when replacing a turbo. A lot of work and a hefty bill for this customer, but, a lot of grief saved in the long run. Pictures attached of the failed DPF core.
If you have DPF issues or AdBlue issues, don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

Always nice to get messages like this, even better when it's on a Monday!
This gentleman had a fairly hefty bill for the works we had to carry out on his vehicle, which makes reading this message even better for us as we know we've done our job correctly where others hadn't.
There will be a more in depth post on the works we had to carry out on this vehicle soon.

Well, another year has come to a close. We would like to thank all our customer's for their support this year, especially through the toughest times more recently.
A quick update on the power issues, electricians came out last Wednesday, found and fixed the issue. Let's hope that's the end of the power outages!
We will be closed from Tuesday 23rd December until Monday 5th January for some much needed rest.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Look forward to seeing you all in 2026

An update on the electric situation.

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for your support in sharing and reacting to my initial post, I'm blown away by the response, I didn't expect it to get this far, so thank you all.

Currently, power is still on, but no official word from anyone yet apart from the local MP, Alice Macdonald (ironically). I have tagged McDonald's in my original post, I have contacted the local press (Eastern Daily Press), someone managed to source the franchise owner's details for me whom I've emailed. For those suggesting Kevin Foley, it's not him, already made a fool out of myself there!

I will keep you up to date with any news and thank you all once more for hopefully sending this viral
