Tonight’s late-night job… Wet belt!

This 2019 Ford Transit Custom has covered less than 100k miles and has a full service history, yet the condition of the wet timing belt was one of the worst we’ve ever seen.

The belt had deteriorated significantly and was extremely close to failure. Had it snapped, it would have caused catastrophic engine damage, resulting in a repair bill running into thousands of pounds.

❗️Don’t assume your vehicle is safe simply because it has low mileage or a full service history. Wet timing belts can deteriorate over time as well as with mileage❗️

Don’t let low mileage fool you❗️

This 2018 Peugeot 208 had covered just 30,000 miles, but as you can see, the timing belt was badly cracked in several places and urgently needed replacing.

Many drivers assume that low mileage means components like the timing belt are still in good condition, but age can be just as important as mileage.

A failed timing belt can cause catastrophic engine damage in seconds, often resulting in a very expensive repair or even a complete engine replacement (we want to avoid this!)

Replacing it as part of routine maintenance is far more cost-effective than repairing the damage caused by a snapped belt.

Transit custom in today for a wet belt replacement

This vehicle had previously (very recent) had a Wet belt but customer for piece of mind wanted doing again and thank goodness we did!!

This customer was charged thought the roof for this poor poor job!
