You ask a question.

You get a song.

You're welcome.

"I hate the sound of my alarm clock."

That's what a client told me in our very first chat. Not "I'm a bit bored" or "I fancy a change"... they dreaded waking up every single morning.

How sad is that?

& think about it from their employer's side too. Without anyone realising, the job was making this person dread every day.

Their employer had spotted they were struggling & with their annual appraisal coming up, they wanted to get to the bottom of it & support them, not discipline them.
Together they agreed a really positive exit plan, which included a career coaching package with Career Garage.

When we started working together, they were regretting their degree, regretting their career choice & honestly hating life.
But they'd only graduated 2 years earlier & would be paying off that degree for years to come, so walking away from everything & starting again at the bottom didn't feel like the answer.
So we talked about what they actually love outside of work. Their hobbies, their interests, what lights them up. Then we found a way to use their most recent experience as a bridge into a completely new career in an area they genuinely care about.
4 weeks later, new role secured & started!!
2 years on, they love the sound of their alarm clock & they've found their happy place at work.

This is exactly what Career Garage loves helping with.

Are you feeling lost & dreading that alarm every morning? Are you wishing your life away, mentally treading water until you can get your hands on your pension?

Let's chat.

Life is far too short to let work make you feel like this...

& if you're an employer with someone who's struggling, there's a kinder way to handle it than a disciplinary... I'd love to talk about how I can help.

If I ask you for 4 pieces of information to price your repair… and you send me 2… I’m not playing 20 Questions for the rest of the day. 😂

I need the info to give you a price. Send it all in one go and I’ll get your quote sorted. Simple.

I promise I’m not asking for your blood type. 😂

“Had it from new, mate. Never had any paintwork.”

Well… this one was delivered from new with two scuffed wheels 😂

You really don't know what has happened to a car before it reaches you.

The paintwork: professional. The singing: absolutely not.

A degree gets you in the room. It's rarely the reason you get the job.

I've watched graduates with average results outshine graduates with brilliant ones, simply because they could talk about themselves with confidence & curiosity. Employers are recruiting people, not transcripts. They want to know how you think, how you handle setbacks & whether you're genuinely interested in the role in front of you. Just as importantly, they want to see the skills behind the degree, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, initiative, the things you've actually practised through projects, part-time jobs & societies, whether or not you've ever called them "skills" before.

If you're a parent reading this on behalf of your son or daughter, this is often the bit that's hardest to watch from the outside. They've done everything right, & the results still aren't coming.

If nobody's explained what employers are actually looking for beyond the certificate, that's not on them, & it's not on you either. I can tell you exactly what employers want to see, & help your graduate show it.

Comment 'Graduate' & I'll send you the article on what employers are really looking for in 2026, so you or your graduate know exactly what to lead with in the next application.

Songs that describe being self-employed 🤣🎤

Sometimes what looks like a clearcoat/top-coat issue can involve more than just the top layer.

This was cracked filler...and a lot of it!

It could have done with a new bumper really, but the age and value of the car didn't warrant it and the customer was happy with the result 👊😎

Another wheel refurbished. Another song absolutely ruined. 😂

At this point the singing is just part of the service.

What should I butcher next? 🎤
