Generally we don't like to see a car going home on a trailer but the Land Rover from Namibia is still waiting for it's registration to come through so until that happens it won't be seen on the road but it's pleasing to us all that it's all ready for it's new life here.

Who else has managed to sneak a motorbike into the kitchen and called it a 'design feature'? 🏍️ At Classic Car Mechanic, we're not judging - in fact, we're high-fiving! Engine parts in the dishwasher? Check. First dates to collect car parts? Been there. And don't even get us started on the baking dishes turned drip trays... 🤣 or the many "accidental"/forgotten or hidden car or bike purchases.
So, what's the most creative (or questionable) thing you've gotten away with, thanks to your super understanding family? 🤔

🚗 What car do you most regret selling?

It’s one of the questions we ask everyone in the team when we put together their bios.

And it’s surprisingly difficult to answer!

Sometimes it’s the first car you ever loved. Sometimes it’s a car you thought you’d keep forever. And sometimes it’s one you sold for what seemed like a perfectly sensible reason at the time… only to spend the next 20 years wishing you hadn’t. 😏

Maybe it was your first car, a much-loved family car, a favourite classic or simply something that made you smile every time you drove it.

Goodbye summer… hello autumn.

We’re a little sad to see summer go. The long evenings, constant sunshine and lots of fabulous drives with the roof down have been wonderful.

But autumn has its own charms — crisp mornings, golden leaves, quiet country roads and plenty of excuses to take the long way home.

And we’d love to hear from our local motoring community too. Where are your favourite autumn drives around Hampshire and Surrey? A quiet country lane, a great viewpoint, or somewhere good for a coffee and a wander?

🚗 MINI MONDAY! 🚗

We’re not Mini specialists.

We’re not Mini obsessed.

…well, maybe a little bit. 😉

There are currently six well-loved classic Minis in the workshop, which feels like a pretty good excuse to make Monday all about these little British legends.

Every one has its own story, its own character and, inevitably, its own little quirks. That’s part of the fun of owning a Mini – they may be small, but they certainly have plenty of personality!

From everyday classics to much-loved show cars, we love seeing them come through the doors – and keeping them on the road for the next generation of Mini adventures.

One workshop. Two very different kinds of classic.

Take a look at these two photographs.

Same workshop. Same team. Same passion for keeping old cars on the road.

But look at the cars…

On one side, you have the everyday classics – cars that were once ordinary family transport. Cars designed to get you to work, take the children to school and do the weekly shopping.

On the other, you have the cars that were designed to be a little more special – sports cars, beautiful tourers and cars that probably spent rather less time parked outside the supermarket!

And yet, we love working on both.

Because whether it's a humble family car that has survived against the odds or a desirable sports car that has been cherished for decades, they all have something in common.

They're old cars with stories.

Some have been carefully preserved. Some have been restored. Some are still earning their keep. And some have simply survived because someone couldn't bear to let them go.

That's one of the things we love about classic cars.

It's not necessarily how much the car is worth that makes it interesting. It's the story behind it.

So, which side would you choose?

I know I (Ingrid) am biased but this was a lovely sight at Justin's ramp this week. My Mini having a bit of TLC from Justin under another very special little car.
