From Tuesday, your instructor will no longer be able to book your driving test for you.

This means that if you are planning on booking your test, communication with your instructor will be even more important as you will need to know their availability. Other tests or appointments may mean that they are unavailable to take you to test!

You can also only change your test twice now before you have to cancel and rebook. Hopefully, with these changes, everyone will be on the same page and that this makes more tests available for those who are ready.

From 12 May, only you as the learner driver will be able to book and manage your car driving test.

This means your driving instructor won’t be allowed to do this for you.

A superb first time pass this morning for Millie from Larkhall with ZERO driver faults at Hamilton test centre. What an amazing accomplishment! A big shout out to your family as well for helping you out with all the private practise in your car.

Your instructor Jamie is so happy for you that you have achieved your goal of becoming a safe, confident driver. He'll miss the banging tunes in the car and the random chats. Congratulations and we wish you safe driving out and about on the roads!

A big well done to Scott from Larkhall who passed his test first time today at Hamilton test centre with only 3 driver faults! A wonderful drive that the examiner was very complimentary about. Your instructor Jamie is thrilled for you that you can now enjoy those trips to work in the warmth and dry of a car instead of getting soaked on the bike!

A massive congratulations to Mark from Lesmahagow who passed this morning at Lanark test centre with just a few driver faults. Today was just confirmation of how hard you have worked, which was reflected in how quickly you progressed on your journey to becoming the safe driver you are today!

Another one in the bag! A huge well done to Calum from Crossford who passed his test yesterday at Lanark test centre on a very stormy day. Do you know what to look for when choosing a driving instructor?

🚗 Approved driving instructors (ADIs) and trainee driving instructors must display a certificate in the windscreen of their vehicle when they are providing paid instruction.

They display:
🟢 a green certificate if they’re a fully qualified driving instructor
🩷 a pink certificate if they’re a trainee and are going through the qualification process
