Why did I choose to dry sand over wet sanding for my base cut on this Maserati Granturismo❓
This Maserati was in to us to reduce the orange peel that had been left by a previous body shop. The objective with this job was to aim for OEM not completely glass flat (Since we were unsure how much clear they had put on)🍊
To do this we opted to dry sand over wet sanding, reason being you can see instantly as you go if and how much you are reducing the peel giving you the feedback if you need to step up, down or continue with the chosen gritt🏝️
Although dry sanding cuts faster it has its draw backs, your disc will clog faster and you will need to change it more often to avoid pig tails but the benifits out weighed the negatives with this job🤟
After that we choose 3k wet to remove the 2k marks followed by rotary and da to finish the paint out leaving this car looking the way it really should 💎
