Currently have a few big jobs in, clutch and flywheel on a 2011 Vauxhall Astra van.
Then there’s 2 engine swaps to be done. 1 is a 3 series BMW, the other is a Citroen DS.
All fun and games for me this week.

Today I’ve had something new to do. Range Rover sport, 3.6l V8, had a gouge taken out of the bumper, and all four wheels needed a referb before selling. Long hot day, but all done.
I don’t just tackle the mechanical side of cars.

My main tasks of Thursday, and yesterday, were all on the same 2004 Ford Streetka 1.6l duratec. Thursdays task was to find and rectify the misfire, which was in cylinders 2 and 4. Ran a couple of simple tests, to rule out the coil pack and ignition leads, to diagnose bad plugs.
I changed the plugs, but noticed a puddle on the floor under the car, further investigation showed the water pump was leaking. Car is a timing chain, so water pump is run off the auxiliary belt, so a fairly easy replacement.
So yesterday I replaced the water pump, refilled the coolant, ran the car up, to bleed the system, and check for leaks. Job done.
Down side, as I jacked the car up yesterday, I noticed both front coil springs were broken. Spoke to the customer, and I’m fitting the springs next week once I have the parts.
All in all a job well done, and a fairly happy customer.

So I’ve had this 2014 Audi S3 with me for the last couple of day, had a nasty oil leak, and needed a major service. After investigation it was the sump seal leaking, being a plastic sump with a rubber gasket, the gasket had failed. But I also noticed damage to the sump upon removal, customer has replaced the sump, and all resealed.
Left me able to replace the spark plugs, oil, air and cabin filters, some fresh oil, and good to go.
Also gave the sensor and oil pickup a good clean before reassembly.
