Mod 2 pass for Josh at Wigston this afternoon. Josh had done a CBT with another school who then quoted him £1800 for his full licence "course". He quite reasonably thought that was way too much as he has been riding bikes since 5 years old. With me he did an initial 2 hour lesson (£80) a 3.5 hour mod 1 lesson & test (£150) and a 4.5 hour mod 2 lesson and test (£250). Giving a total of £480 done over 3 visits. Well done Josh..👍

Ive received many messages recently regarding how people are being treated by less honest / honourable bike schools.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A PACKAGE OR A BLOCK OF TRAINING UNLESS

A. Your riding has been assessed by the school.
B. You have assessed the school in person, not on a website.
C. You are aware of what you are getting for your money, time on bikes, time of tests, what the charges are if you fail, how long a wait between tests / retests etc?

Mod 1 pass for Tom from Nuneaton. Tom did a CBT with me on a big bike (£180) and a Mod 1 test today for which I charged £70 for the 1hour & 15minute practice on my bike and test fee and then meet me on his 125cc at the test centre and wait for him while he borrowed my bike. He has now booked his mod 2 with me for a couple of weeks time where he will pay £250 for the day (9-4) plus £75 test fee...God willing a pass on that would give him a total spend of £500 for CBT to full licence.

Making it 2 out of 2 on Mod 2s today is Mr X from the UK. Mr X had ridden bikes 27 years ago. With me he did a "full licence" CBT on a 650cc a half day mod 1 lesson with test followed today by a half day mod 2 session with test. Total spend from CBT to full licence £580. FYI. Mr X rang his work to inform them he was sick today hence identity withheld.🤣

Im flattered that people are travelling quite a way to do their bike training with me in Whitwick. Here we have Michael who drove down from Bolton to do his CBT & John all the way from Coalville...taking a break for coffee and sausage sandwiches at Bradgate Park..As well as the Compulsory elements of the CBT we also did all the Mod 1 test elements. They both demonstrated they have the necessary skill to pass both mod 1 & 2 so will now be booking their own tests and using their own bikes for the tests...so hopefully £23 + £15.50 + £75 for their A1 licence.

Im fully booked & not taking on any new customers at this time. Once I have cleared my diary Im going to have a proper break. I dont want bookings in the diary that limit how long I can take off. You are welcome to contact me October / November time if you wish?

FYI. I have received over 100 enquiries since mid day yesterday on Messenger alone. Ive never known anything like this in the 37 years Ive been instructing. Its clear with the best will in the world I cannot accommodate everyone who gets in touch. I can however suggest some questions you may wish to ask schools when calling around? I wish you the very best, and again thankyou for your interest. God bless.

QUESTIONS TO ASK

1. How do you know I will need X amount of days if you haven't seen me ride a bike?
2. How many hours of "on bike" training will I get per day?
3. What will I be charged if I fail the Mod 1 and / or the Mod 2 test?
4. What time will the tests be on each day?

From that you should be able to work out an hourly rate and better compare one school to another.

Also worth asking the following:-

Is the instructor fully qualified and full time or an unpaid part qualified "volunteer"?

Are there any additional charges, insurance, kit , petrol etc.
