We are super proud to be supporting a fundraiser organised by my amazing sister: A Bear Named Buttony, an incredible charity that helps children living with a stoma feel more confident, understood and less alone 🧸💙

The charity provides children with their very own Buttony Bear: a soft, cuddly teddy bear with a button stoma, just like theirs. These special bears help children understand their condition, build confidence and navigate a significant change in their lives in a way that feels safe and comforting.

To help support the fundraising efforts, we’ve donated a car care kit packed with some of our new Speed Industries goodies, which will be raffled off by to help raise even more money for this amazing cause.

A huge thank you also goes to Karen at Euro Car Parts, who very generously donated half of the prize personally. Your kindness and support are greatly appreciated. 💙

🔧 One of last week’s bigger jobs saw Jason tackling a wet belt replacement on a Ford Transit using genuine Ford parts 👨🏻‍🔧 If you’ve never heard of a wet belt, you’re not alone!

Unlike a traditional timing belt that runs outside the engine, a wet belt runs inside the engine and is constantly bathed in engine oil. Ford designed them this way to reduce noise and improve efficiency, but as the belt ages, the material can begin to break down.

🚨 The problem? When a wet belt starts to deteriorate, debris can contaminate the engine oil system, potentially leading to low oil pressure and, in severe cases, catastrophic engine damage.

😮‍💨 Why are they such a difficult job? Because the belt lives inside the engine, there is no quick access.

The job involves:

✔️ Stripping down a large portion of the engine
✔️ Locking the engine timing precisely
✔️ Removing covers and ancillary components
✔️ Cleaning out any belt debris
✔️ Replacing seals and associated parts
✔️ Rebuilding everything exactly to specification

Now imagine doing all of that on a customer’s driveway, in the middle of the British weather, without the luxury of a workshop or vehicle lift 😅

It’s one of those jobs that requires patience, experience and attention to detail, but this Transit is now back on the road with genuine Ford parts and one less major maintenance item to worry about 💙

🛢️ Over the weekend we disposed of over 200 litres of used engine oil 😮‍💨

That’s a lot of oil changes, services and routine maintenance keeping our customers safely on the road! 🔧🚗

People often only see the fresh oil going in, but behind the scenes there’s a huge amount of waste oil, filters and old parts being responsibly recycled and disposed of every week.

It’s been a busy one at Speed Industries, but we wouldn’t have it any other way 💙 Thank you to everyone who trusts us to keep their vehicles maintained, serviced and road-ready. As always, we’re out there bringing the garage to you

We kicked today off with a set of springs on a VW… and let’s just say they came off in more pieces than they should have 🤣🧩 Definitely well overdue for replacement.

Then it was onto a Polo for a new wheel bearing hub and CV joint, followed by a couple of diagnostics to track down some mystery faults and keep us on our toes 👨🏻‍🔧🔍

One minute we’re rebuilding suspension, the next we’re chasing electrical gremlins. Just another day bringing the garage to you 💙

Now it’s time to hang up the spanners and finish the day properly… with a Chinese takeaway 🥡😮‍💨
