One of the more challenging jobs from 2025….

When his, rather rare, Volvo 850 T5R failed its MOT for brake imbalance and with no standard options available, opted to upgrade the brakes using a kit from a later Volvo S60R. This would have been a bolt on solution, had the car been wearing a set of 18” wheels, however the 355mm disc the kit came with was never going to fit under the 17’s Ryan wanted to keep.

This is where we stepped in and fired up the 3D printer to make some custom brackets for the front calipers getting it as close as possible to the wheel hub (see how many versions we went through in the last photo!)

Once we were happy the caliper would fit, we then specced up a brake disc to suit, this was a 345mm brake disc usually found on a Mercedes CLS.

A trip to the water jet cutters and some new steel brackets are born allowing the 17” wheels to just squeeze over the brakes, needless to say we and Ryan were very relieved and happy with the result!

A clean MOT certificate and some improved stopping power it’s now ready for years to come both on and off the track with the addition of some new PBS ProTeack pads 💪

After leading for 10 and a half hours the win wasn’t meant to be. A small brake issue cost an unscheduled pitstop and some time in the last stage of the race dropping us back down the order. In the end crossing the line in P2 🥈

Hard not to be somewhat disappointed after such a strong and faultless performance by both team and drivers but that’s racing
