Huge congratulations to Kyson Tilling on passing his driving test FIRST TIME this afternoon with a near perfect drive! 🚗🎉👏

And what a test to remember! 😂 First, there was the small matter of a fire near the test centre 🔥 causing a bit of extra distraction… then, after months of glorious sunshine, the weather decided that mid-driving test was the perfect time to throw in a full-on thunderstorm! ⛈️🌧️

Fire, thunder, torrential rain… apparently nothing was going to stop him! 😂

Absolutely smashed it, Kyson — first time pass! Well done! 🥳🚗💨

Booked at the very last minute, he turned up on a beautiful, glorious, sunny Wednesday, and absolutely smashed it with a fabulous drive. What a fantastic achievement!

What a fantastic way to start the week! 🎉

Huge congratulations to Oliver Hammond on passing his driving test today with a perfect drive – an outstanding achievement on a wonderful Monday! 🚗✅

This one was extra special for me. Ollie’s mum is a very special friend of my wife’s, so it’s been a real privilege to help him on his journey to becoming a safe and confident driver.

I’ve genuinely enjoyed every lesson with Ollie. He’s worked incredibly hard, listened, learned, and absolutely deserved this result.

Wishing you every success for the future, Ollie. Stay safe, enjoy your freedom, and make lots of great memories on the road. It’s been a pleasure teaching you. Congratulations once again! 🎊👏

This copied from a fellow Instructor but how true it is!

A good reminder to parents of any pupils starting to learn to drive ..........

Driving in the 80s

When most of us were learning to drive it took on average 10 hours to pass the test. Most had been behind the wheel in a farm, or in a yard of their dads or grandads friend.

👉 Reverse parking was not taught.
👉 There was no Theory Test.
👉 There was no hazard perception test.
👉 There was no independent drive section.
👉 There were no show me/tell me questions.
👉 There were no/very few bus lanes.
👉 There were no red routes.
👉 There were no/very few cycle lanes.
👉 There were no advanced stop lines.
👉 Cyclists were taught cycling proficiency at school.
👉 Pedestrians were taught the Green X Code.
👉 There were more police enforcing driving standards. Nobody used a mobile phone!
👉 There were less vehicles on the road.
👉 There were hardly any cars parked on roadsides.
👉 Most had never heard the term "road rage". It did not exist.
👉 There were no speed humps, 20 zones, "chicanes" or other traffic "calming" measures. They were not needed.
👉 other drivers gave space and time while learners were in view.
👉 There were less/no mini roundabouts/double mini roundabouts.
👉 Roads were better maintained with signs and line markings you could actually see, and pot holes had not been invented.
👉 Supermarkets were not open 24/7 and closed on Sundays so you could always use their car parks for some initial practice.
👉 The test only lasted about 30 minutes.

Your children have so much more to deal with than you ever did so please show them respect, don't pressurise them due to the cost, ask yourself, are you putting a value on their life?

All I ask is to just give them the support they deserve for just attempting to learn to drive on todays roads yet alone facing the dreaded L test.

The question is, would you pass your driving test if I asked you to sit a mock test tomorrow?
