Cosmin had been a driver for Heidelberg for nearly a decade and decided, like many other drivers, that he wanted to start his own business, running his own mixers, as a franchisee.

He came to us in 2025 looking for his first mixer truck. Because we had a DAF with a 9m³ McPhee in stock, it was really no time at all before he was up and running with his first mixer.

Now in 2026, having grown his business, we've delivered another mixer, exactly the same spec, with everything needed to operate for Heidelberg.

How much safety equipment do you think gets fitted on to a tipper truck?

Often this depends on where you're driving and who you're driving for. If its for a large franchise fleet, then it often ends up being quite a lot.

5/6 way AI camera systems, side scan systems, beacon bars, chapter 8 markings, overhead voltage detectors, and body raised warnings are just some of the extras you'll need to organise the fitting of.

Some people think all this is a nuisance, others think it genuinely improves site and road safety. All we know is you have to have it to operate for these businesses.

So the real question is, do you want spend your time reading equipment specs and organising 3rd party suppliers to make your trucks compliant? Or would you rather collect them and work them on day 1 knowing they have everything they need?

If the last DAF you had was a CF model, the new XDCs are worlds away from the old model.
