So today our lovely Paula embarked on her first day out of observation in D category , coach with Holly.
Paula has got a d1 minibus professional and lorry license and has decided to embark on a category upgrade to full size coach which will expand the freelance PCV driver team.

So its been a while since we've posted, I'm finally very pleased to say that bus work has begun to pick up gradually and things are starting to look up.

We've been driving double deckers on Bicester school runs, 52 seaters on rural school contracts, I've been in a beautiful 21 plate Yutong 35 seater on London jobs and the Lowen's bus and courier work.

Its been fantastic being out on the road again, where my heart is, and its been so moving to see all of the remaining coach operators out working on the roads when only weeks ago, you barely saw a couple on a 200 mile trip due to the virus.

I offer PCV driving services by the job or by the day for any size of bus on a contractor basis, if any bus operators require a back up/cover driver , travelling pretty much anywhere, please do get in touch 👌

It’s been a positive week with meetings with potential clients and a particularly Double deckery kind of one too!

I’ve been out doing some Decker school runs which has given me a real sense of purpose again during a very worrying time!

I’ve also had the great pleasure of experiencing this stunning 1960s iconic London routemaster, which has been beautifully preserved. My gran and grandad (Butty) would have loved to see this one ♥️

Some heart breaking statistics in a covid19 induced total coach industry collapse, which really hit home today. For any professional driver who loves what they do, who is managing to find some form of coach work, however little right now; cherish it , be grateful and spare a thought for your employer.

Since the virus hit in March 2020:

110 coach firms have gone out of business

Over 7000 trained and skilled coach drivers have lost their jobs (aside from all the out of work self employed owner/operators and lone drivers not included in those figures)

The predictions are that by mid January 60% of the coach industry will have ceased trading , resulting in over 30,000 unemployed drivers

Many of the finance providers for the enormous bus HPs won’t put holiday payments In place without enormous interest charges building up ; vehicles still have to be insured even if taken off road

Many coach firms aren’t classed as leisure and tourism so the only funds they can access are repayable grants pushing their company debt higher and higher. The furlough scheme may keep things in check for some drivers but the companies are really suffering with overheads to stay operational

Our diaries would usually be full for 2021 and now they are empty 😢
