We've launched a new form to make it easier to report misuse of the booking service to us.

Report misuse of the booking service
Since 12 May 2026, it is against the law to book a driving test on behalf of a learner. It is also against DVSA’s terms and conditions of the service to resell tests, use automated bots to search the booking service, or use someone else's personal details without their permission.

These rules are in place to make the system fairer for everyone.

As we continue to take action against those third parties looking to break the rules and exploit learner drivers, we want to make it easier for people to report misuse when they see it.

Report booking service misuse using our form
You can now report misuse of the booking service using our new online form on GOV.UK.

The form will ask you to provide website addresses, social media pages or links, and any screenshots to help with the investigation. Reports can be made anonymously. Our enforcement team will investigate all reports received and take appropriate action.

Complaining about the conduct of an ADI
If you or your pupil want to complain about the conduct or service of an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), a separate process remains in place. These complaints should be emailed to [email protected] as usual.

We’re adding broader driving skills to the Ready to Pass? campaign
Updated driving guidance on Ready to Pass? campaign website
Today we are widening the guidance on the Ready to Pass? campaign website to include broader skills that make someone a safer driver for life.

We are adding this on the back of feedback from the driver training industry about how we can make the resources for the campaign even better.

In our latest blog post we hear from Graham O’Brien (DVSA, Technical Policy Lead) and Abigail Holland (DVSA, Head of Marketing and External Affairs) about:

the new guidance being added to the website
how you can use it with your pupils
the new ‘ask your instructor’ prompt for your pupils
You can read all of this and more in the latest DVSA Despatch blog post.

Since awarding the contract to Kainos in September 2025, the team has been working to build the new service.

We are now preparing to trial it for the first time at Durham driving test centre in July.

DVSA’s project lead, Jacqui Turland, has provided an update on the project and the trial in our latest Despatch blog post.

Twelve month suspension for breaking new booking system rules

I'm just writing to let you know our guidance page on GOV.UK has been updated today (22 June): Driving test booking: if your online access is suspended - GOV.UK

Since new terms and conditions were introduced for how the public books a driving test on 12 May, DVSA has suspended online access for licenses breaking these new rules.
DVSA has now set a time period for how long the online access will be suspended. This is 12 months.
This time period was chosen as DVSA state they know that misuse of the system is often deliberate and repeat‑driven. The regulator believes limiting access for a long period of time will help disrupt this behavior.
Anyone who has their online access suspended can ask for the decision to be reviewed by completing a form on (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/driving-test-booking-if-your-online-access-is-suspended)]GOV.UK.
ADIs are already prohibited from booking a test

Find out when DVSA can suspend your online access to book and manage your driving test, what you need to do, and how you can request a review.
