🧮 A Blast From the Past Arrives at the Yard!* 🧮

Not every day we see a piece of technology history come across the scales!

This vintage FACIT mechanical calculator, made in Sweden, was used long before electronic calculators and computers became commonplace. With a system of gears, levers, and a hand crank, it could perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division entirely mechanically.

Once a staple in offices, banks, and engineering firms around the world, this machine would have been cutting-edge technology in the 1950s and 1960s.

It's always fascinating to see the items that find their way into the yard—some are just scrap, while others are a reminder of how far technology has come.

Even our resident Scrap Cat was keeping a close eye on proceedings last night! 🐱👀

We were pleased to welcome local emergency services to our site as they carried out valuable training exercises. These sessions provide an opportunity for crews to develop and practice their skills in realistic industrial environments, helping them stay prepared for a wide range of incidents.

A big thank you to everyone involved for their professionalism and dedication to keeping our communities safe. 🚒🚑

And judging by the audience in attendance, the training had one very attentive spectator! 🐾
