Sorting out someone else’s previous DIY work is always a tricky task, especially when it's aerosol paint! 🚘🎨
This 2007 Ford Mondeo came in with the front bumper corner in a proper sad state compared to the rest of the car. It had been previously blown over with 1K rattle cans, leaving behind severe cracking, sinkage, and chemical reaction issues in the paint in all layers.
Rather than disturbing the old underlying filler and opening up a can of worms, we took a controlled repair approach.
Keyed & Prepped: Sanded back the failing, reactive aerosol layer to create a stable substrate.
Isolating & Priming: Applied proper priming to lock down the old finish and prevent chemical reactions/bleeding through.
Refinished & Cured: Sprayed and baked under our infrared curing lamps for a durable, high gloss high solid 2K finish.
Even on an older silver metallic, we achieved a seamless edge to edge colour match, bringing that bumper corner right back in line with the rest of the vehicle.
